Very interesting. Housed in the only building on the square not burned by Sherman. Has lots of war weapons dating to recent wars.

This museum located on the Marietta Square offers a tour through Marietta's history. The admission is only $7. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The artifacts are a fun look into Marietta's past. The attractions are kid friendly, and the museum hosts special events and group gatherings in their event space often. I think whether you're a Marietta native or just stopping through, the museum is a great place to spend a couple of hours and learn about the history of Marietta. The gift shop has lots of cute trinkets and informative books if you want to take home a memory from your visit.

If you're on Marietta square and have 1/2 hour to kill, may be worth a visit. Very limited collection, mostly old, dusty artifacts.

You'll find all kinds things, Civil War, Gone With The Wind, collectables, tours, books, too much to mention. We've been there so many times, if you know about the Big Chicken, you'll find an ornament for it. It's where Andrews Raiders stole the train in the Civil War, Andrews stayed there when it was a hotel. Great Locomotive Chase.

The planes were impressive and there was a lot of space to walk around and enjoy looking. However the docent on the premises was arrogant and rude. He did not make it feel like a family friendly facility. We will go back and hope another docent is working.

Ghost, I am pretty sure there are ghosts in this place. Why wouldn't there be? The history holds the answer..

Received a great mini-tour by Mr. Jim R. He is so knowledgable and his enthusiasm for history was infectious. He made it a great pleasure to pass through the museum. Although small, the museum is so rich in American history. It was a great family trip!

Great museum full of local historic exhibits, particularly on civil war history since Marietta and mearby Kennesaw Mountain were major sites in Atlanta campaign in Battle of Atlanta. Many other interesting historical exhibits of Marietta and surrounding area. Great historial lectures held here too. Very nice little gift shop.

We visited this museum on a Tuesday. That's the day a fine southern gentleman named Jim Ross volunteers his time as a tour guide. He gave us a tremendous tour of the museum pointing out the historical significance of every room. He knew his stuff and had a great personality that made the tour a whole lot of fun. There is a lot of great stuff in this museum and it also holds a lot of historical significance as a cotton warehouse turned hotel as well as service as a Civil War hospital. It is the hotel in which Andrew's Raiders stayed the night before boarding the General steam train and eventually stealing the train before being stopped at Ringgold, GA on its way North.

The recent expansion of the Marietta Museum of History added to its already exciting attractions. Historic outfits, gun displays, furniture, small machines, books, recreated rooms of 19th century Cobb County, knowledgeable docents to answer all one's questions - what more could we ask of this amazing history museum.

Great place for kids, family, couples or friends. The Marietta Museum of History has several permanent exhibits that they continue to add artifacts and material to. They have interactive things for kids and the volunteer staff is really helpful in answering any questions you might have. There are some exhibits that they change out throughout the year to keep things interesting and they're always different. I really enjoy coming here. It has a warm atmosphere and the people are so nice and helpful. There is a lot of history is Marietta and it's a lot of fun to see. This is a great place to bring anyone young, old and everything in between. The museum is on the second floor and the gift shop is on the main floor. The gift shop has a lot of different things for everyone who visits. You'll be able to find some kind of souvenir weather it's a toy for your kids, a shirt for a gift, a book for some reading or some home made lotion for the winter months and that dry skin you have. It's a great place to visit while you're out and about, I highly recommend it.

I visited the Marietta Museum of History with a friend of mine who is an expert in the Civil War. This museum offers displays of all the wars between the Civil War until present. The museum also offers displays of life in a Marietta from its founding. I was born and raised here in Marietta and seeing the displays always takes me to my childhood. If you are into local history and military articles, this museum has it for you.Parking is nearby, but not on the property. Free parking is available for about two hours in a parking lot which is located across the railroad tracks from the museum. If you do not want to cross the railroad tracks, free parking is available around the Marietta square. FYI - City police patrols the free parking to ensure people are not staying beyond their "free" time. I've seen the officers leave parking citations on vehicles in both areas. (I work nearby.)

I visited the Museum earlier this year and enjoyed it so much I recently bought another pass via Groupon. From the exterior, the building reminds me of those I've seen in Holland or Belgium but inside the warm wooden floors and museum items everywhere make you want to stay for hours viewing everything. A nice display of regional historical memorabilia and an impressive number of books for sale.
