Another of Savannah's interesting sites, fabulous tour! Stayed in Savannah an extra night to be able to take the morning tour of the Church...Best decision we made! Attended the brief and informative lecture while seated on the pews in the main church foyer. Then went in to the basement and listened as our knowledgeable and enthusiastic tour guide told us more of the history of the church and its role in the time of slavery. Fascinating and well-worth our time!

We attended the Sunday service at 10:00 AM. What a warm greeting we received! A special experience to worship in the oldest Black church.

A WONDERFUL experience! Truly a church full of life changing facts! This would be a wonderful opportunity to take children and teens to learn about African American history. Truly fundamental to the soul.

Very interesting to learn the history of how it was built, by whom and its role in the underground railroad. Was definitely able to feel the history and African-American struggle for justice, equality and freedom.

I was amazed by the history that I learned when we visited. The church is kept in very good condition, and is in the heart of many other Savannah attractions.

I really enjoyed our tour and was fascinated by the history of the church. Our tour guide told vivid stories of the founders and what life was like back in that time. It really amazed me the efforts and devotions that were put into building the church and its congregation. The sanctuary has its own history told through it's stained glass windows. Truly a remarkable visit on the history of Savannah.

A lot of history in this church. The holes in the basement floor that provided air pockets for those in the Underground Railroad was the highlight of the visit.

The church is beautiful. However, my children and I were most excited and humbled to learn of the important part this Historic site played in the Underground Railroad. It was an honor to see the quilted map that hung in the lower level that was used to guide those on their road to freedom. One could even see the holes in the floor used as airways for the tunnel. Across the street still stands the building used to house the slaves waiting to be sold. It is a must see.

We visited and lucked out when we got to meet a docent who took us around on an impromptu private tour. She was beyond gracious and gave us a wealth of information.

Wonderful but I cannot enter cause it was closed. The building is great. I recommended and I will return

The church is wonderful, but the stories and the history of those who built it, the underground railway, the early struggles….these are wonderful to hear during the tour. Very powerful. If you do no other tour, do this one!

Maybe I been unfair to the area but it is questionable part of town. Some much history. I have to take a moment and just take it in. The square across from it is very nice...but be careful.

WE visited this church and it was wonderful. The people made us feel right at home especially since we were not African Americans. It was a great service, good preaching and singing.

Very interesting and informative tour. It was amazing to see what was accomplished/built by enslaved Africans during their "free time". The tour guides were friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Our guide was over enthusiastic at some points. To update a previous review about this issue .....Our tour guide contacted us and was very open to suggestions and feedback . They are always looking for ways to improve the tourist's experience. A comment box would be nice.
