I found this to be an excellent fort. It has been kept in wonderful condition. there are cannonballs still embedded in the exterior walls along with a film that we viewed in the visitor center. You can walk around the fort to view how well it was constructed, the destruction that occurred during the Civil war is quite evident.

We learned so much about the advancement of military technology of the day and how it completely changed how the Savannah River was protected. This is a must see if you are a history buff. The fort itself has been restored and the staff that give tours (including a cannon firing on Saturdays) are extremely knowledgeable.

This is a huge brick fort surrounded by a moat. There is still damage on the south wall from where the fort was bombarded during the Civil War. We really enjoyed exploring all the nooks and crannies.

Our ranger (Dot) was superb. She put the history of the fork into a historical perspective. It was quite interesting to hear how the attack changed the world's view of coastal defence.

Part of the defensive band of forts surrounding Savannah , this was the one fort that took a pounding and was partially destroyed by rifled cannon during the war. You can still see on it's seaward ramparts the marks lft by the shells. Good visitors center.

This is a very nice visit. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. DO WATCH THE MOVIE presentation in the visitor center. It provides a lot of background information that is really great when you are actually in the fort. And be sure to go up to the top of the fort for great views of the surrounding area and a close up look at two enormous cannon.

We had a great time exploring the fort and surrounding area and finding out how warfare was changing at that time in our history

Very historical and well maintained historical civil war fort. Take the trail out to Cockspur lighthouse and view where Wesley first landed

As a local and a guide in a historic home in Savannah, I always suggest Fort Pulaski to tourists. It is worth the drive from the Savannah Historic District. After visiting the fort, Tybee Island is just over the Lazaretto Creek Bridge. Great outing for families.

We are from Canada and not really "huge" Civil War buffs but this stop was so worth it. The history was so well displayed and explained. My kids are still bringing it up and refer to it as "one of the best stops" on our three week trip. The service was also stellar from the guy at the booth when you drive up, to the folks inside the actual Fort. Can't recommend this destination strong enough!

Of all of the National parks that we have visited, this one was in remarkable shape! Staff very friendly and informative...

Fort Pulaski stands as a turning point in American history. Forts had proven a safe defense in the past. In the Civil War, however, rifled artillery used by the Union forced the Confederate forces inside the fort to surrender. Masonry fortifications were never considered safe again. The national monument is well worth a visit---and it is only a few miles from the Crab Shack on Tybee Island.

We visited Tybee Island on a really windy and cold day so we had to leave the beach quickly and were lucky enough to drive by this on the way back to Midtown! This is a really cool monument where you can walk around and see how life on the fort was for soldiers and prisoners back in the day! The fort has guided tours and its big enough to spend about 45 mins walking around and taking pictures. The views from the top level of the fort are really nice and it was a fun little stop on our trip.
