...and it's worth it! Nice view! Great chance to step back in time and imagine life as the lighthouse caretaker. The docent offered a wealth of historical info and fun ghost stories too!

We were very happy we visited even though it was a somewhat standard historic lighthouse site. The site consists of three primary activities...viewing a short historical film that was quite informative and professional, walking two exhibit rooms and four rooms furnished for the period, and walking to the top of the lighthouse itself - which concludes with a beautiful view of the surroundings. The $12 admission price also allows you to walk the grounds and to visit a historic coast guard site about 1.5 miles away.We felt the cost was justified and would recommend it to others even though it only took us about less than an hour to see everything (except the trip to the cost guard location, which we missed).

The grounds of this light station are quite beautiful and well-kept. We visited on a sunny day last weekend during a chili cook-off in the village so many people were out and about enjoying the weather and the festivities. The town and the lighthouse are very photogenic and my sisters and I had a great visit.

A lighthouse keeper's job was critical to navigation of the seas and extremely difficult. The tour provided a lot of information on the duties and the life of a keeper and his family. It was an isolated location that did not pay well and had a myriad of tasks associated with it.

We very much enjoyed the newly-remodeled lighthouse museum here. The docent who met us at the door gave us a lot of information before letting us look around on our own. The upstairs rooms are furnished as if a lighthouse keeper were living there back in the day, to give you an idea of what living there might have been like. Climbing the lighthouse is very good exercise, but if you aren't used to stairs, you may be sore for about three days, LOL. (don't ask me how I know!)Accessibility: Apparently there's wheelchair access somewhere, but we couldn't find it. We carried our son's walker up the stairs both into the gift shop (where you buy tickets) and also into the lighthouse museum. When we left, I did ask if there was access, and the docent said there is access around the back, so I guess if you ask at the ticket counter, they might be able to help you. They didn't offer this information (even though it was obvious we might have benefited from it). There is not access to the 2nd story in the house, and no access up to the top of the lighthouse.

Pretty lighthouse and history. Neat view. It teaches you so much about the area and the fishing/shrimping industries got started.

I was here on a Saturday and the place was busy but nothing insane. The tours and museum are nice because they let you go at your own pace. I was never one to think of how important lights towers was but after being here and seeing it and learning about it my mind has changed.

It was raining and very very cold, but we went anyway.Climbing the Lighthouse was very good exercise, but we couldn't go outside as it was too slippery. The Staff were very accommodating and answered every question we threw at them.Take you Camera

The reefs off St Simons have been ship traps for centuries. This lighthouse probably saved many lives during its life, but it's not especially interesting. A walk around is more than enough, but if you climb to the top, the view is usually good enough for you to actually see the waves breaking over the sand bars and reefs offshore.

Beautiful little lighthouse. If I remember correctly, it is 129 stairs to the top and not too bad of a climb. There is a small museum that includes the former lighthouse keepers' living quarters and artifacts. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The admission fee was $12 for adults and also included the Maritime Museum with your wristband, however, we did not visit it. The lighthouse and Museum do not take long, so don't expect this to be an all day affair. There is a pier right near the lighthouse, which several visitors walked out to, although we did not.

Thank you for visiting the St. Simons Lighthouse Museum. Adult tickets are $12 and children ages 6-12 are $5 and include the Lighthouse Museum and Maritime Center. We hope you enjoyed your visit and will return soon.

The people who operate the lighthouse have done a nice job putting together historical information, an interesting video, and some items on display. The lighthouse itself is in good shape. Like all lighthouses, the real attraction is in climbing to the top and experiencing the scenic view. I've visited the St. Simons lighthouse a number of times and as I get older, the climb takes a little longer, but it's always worth the effort.

The cost even with the added USCG museum seemed a little high. It was quite surreal that a couple with a child lived in this lights house and light keepers cottage back in the 1700s.

Really informative displays and super gift shop. It was a difficult life keeping a lighthouse. I learned several things I hadn't known.

After reading Eugenia Price's book, we had to tour this lighthouse and hear about the history. Our guide was engaging and informative and brought history alive
