fort Stewart is home of the 3rd ID. Don't miss the Warriors walk in memory of the fallen soldiers. It's very solemn and moving. It also has a museum to view items from the wars. Tanks, and helicopters greet you as you enter the main gate that were also used in the wars. Enjoy the Ft Stewart journey! Give our military the honor they deserve.

They claim to be friendly with easy access to areas either facilities to use for everyone or just passing through, but the opposite is true.

I visited with my daughter's family. The only thing I didn't like was having to apply for a pass to get on base every 3 days. It takes any where from 20 minutes to an hour to obtain a pass. I hope the powers that be reconsider week passes for the Holidays.

3rd ID Rock of the Marne, what more can I say? Awesome base full of hard charging War Fighter's. God Bless America.

Fort Stewart in embedded in the heart of Hinesville. The quickest way to get to hineville is to go through the fort.

I'm in town visiting. The base is very tidy and well organized. The people were very friendly. I enjoyed visiting the fallen soldier memorial and paying my respects.

dislike-strictness at the gates, like cleanlyness, facilities and lakes/forests where soldiers and their family can enjoy themselves

If you're in the Army and stationed here, I'm so sorry for you. You can look forward to mosquitoes and other wonderful insects, swamps, field, NTC, driving 45 minutes to get to civilization (Savannah), humid and sticky hot summer days with an average high of over 90 degrees Jun-Aug, and more field. There is nothing good about this place. If you are enlisted, this will be one of the worst duty stations you could have been selected for stateside. Use every free moment you may have to get as far away from the base as possible. Nearby places to go include Savannah, Tybee Island, Hilton Head, Myrtle Beach, Atlanta, Smoky Mountains, Jacksonville, Daytona Beach, Orlando, and Tampa. If you're able to, check to see if you can extend or reenlist to get out of here as fast as you can. Then again, there's not too much chance of that happening since you're probably deployed or, did I mention, out in the field? Good luck, may you make it out alive and never have to return here ever again. If you do make it out and move away, don't ever think about coming back here to visit. It's not worth it and there's no point. There's plenty wonderful destinations in the world to explore. This isn't one of them.

There is plenty of things to do if you have money, but there isn't much to do for the poor. There is a bowling alley that does "penny a pin" on Thursdays. There is an indoor playground for children under 12 and a bunch of parks.

Ft. Stewart is a nice quiet place. Love visiting our son there and Warrior's Walk. My friend's sons' Memorial is there.

Very clean, easy to navigate, friendly people, and always helpful. The pool was good to relax by, the park was good to walk around and we felt safe. The fireworks on the 4th was definitely a treat.

I have seen many things change on this base over the last 25 years but the underlying current of the place is one of military might. From the Museum, captured weapons from the Iraq war, to the veteran memorial and the beautiful Warrior's walk, it is a strong and proud base.

Playgrounds pools and parks everywhere. Jogging trails and biking and walking trails. The gym my husband went to was one of the nicest he's ever been to. If you are stationed here you are lucky. One bad thing is vicious dogs in yards with jump able fences.

The post is nice enough, but not enough eateries for the public. It is in the middle of nowhere, ut travel to Savannah and Jacksonville is simple enough. The golf course was fun with the target greens. The housing around the post is quite nice and the WTU is brand new.
