Commorates Gilmer County's contribution to Americas war efforts from WWI to today. Bricks commerated the names of those who have served. The site is the only pedestrian bridge across the Coosawattee River from the Countys athletic facilities to soccer fields on the opposite side. Facilitates parking for attendees of the Gilmer Apple Festival every October. It's well lighted too.

Beautiful memorial bridge to all of our nation's veterans. If visiting Ellijay during the Apple Festival, follow the first set of parking signs that take you to the back of the Lions Club fairgrounds. Parking is just $5.00 and the bridge offers easy access to the back gates without getting in all the traffic or parking at schools to get bussed over.

This attraction is actually quite good. I have taken family members from out of town and they have really enjoyed this memorial. The path is nice and easy. The river is beautiful. The reminder of what these men and women did for our country is outstanding! I went there on July 4th to place flowers on a friends stone and thank him for his sacrifice and I was pleased to see that others had done the same for various veterans. A must see if you are visiting town!

This is a wonderful memorial, especially at dusk, when the lights are on. Very easy walking path, the river close by to cool and soothe, plenty of seats to rest along the way, touching quotations and names listed for all the wars. A nice place to introduce history to our grandson.
