Bilbao is a wonderful city! The city, the people and the food are fabulous! Make time to see the city by foot and head towards the old part of the city - there are beautiful buildings, squares, cafes, restaurants, ice cream places, and musicians. Everyone gathers in the streets early evening and the place comes alive. It really is wonderful!

By far best part of Bilbao! So cute! Loved the little shops! Particularly liked the Original Tea Shop.

A must if you're visiting Bilbao. Great "Pintxo" bars at "Plaza Nueva", "Calle Somera" and "Calle Santamaria". Young al chilled atmosphere.

I had lowish expectations of Bilbao as a town, but the Casco Viejo was great, with lots of interesting shops, plenty of pintxo bars and - for this night at least - the sight of grown people following a large electrically lit sardine around the streets. The whole place is small, intricate and fun. It felt genuine and different. I'd love to have had more time to try out some of the interesting shops suggested by our host.

the old town - a warren of narrow streets filled with bars, shops and people. worth a visit and a good place to sample the local speciality pinxtos.

After visiting the Guggenheim we walked along the river to the Old Town and wandered the streets to find a restaurant. There is lots of choice and everywhere is reasonably priced.

The old town of Bilbao, all pedestrian, plenty of shops and places to eat, Bilbao Cathedral, Etnic Museum, Historic Museum, all inside it, Sunday flower market at the docks of El Arenal, and saturday Flea market at tasty Plaza Nueva are 2 hints for the weekends.

I love Casco Viejo! This is where e more unusual and interesting shops are during the day and bars on a night. I would definitely suggest this area for nightlife and to pick up some interesting souvenirs.

Like almost everything in Bilbao, Casco Viejo is very handy to visit. You can easily walk the "siete calles" in an hour of two, even allowing for a couple of stops for drinks and pintxos. It gets busiest on Saturday nights when the locals are crowding the restaurants and bars. The sunday afternoons the restaurants are offering excellent lunches for a good price, three-course lunch for 22.50 € including half a bottle of wine. Avoid frustration by making a reservation. Shoppingwise, there are better places in Bilbao, depending your taste of course. Nice atmosphere and absolutely worth the visit.

After all, you have to go visit , even because there is not much to see in this city . Interesting, but an old neighborhood , and nothing more.Good choices of pintxos and Basque tapas , however nothing that does not exists better in Barcelona or Madrid.Only for walking, est, drink and watch old city

And interesting shops. Great restaurants. We had 3 course lunch with wine and bottle of water for €15 each. Great deal and delicious.

Great old quarter. We spent time wandering through here during the day and the night. Both times we felt like we were getting a good view of this charming place. At night the many resteraunts open up for dinner, and it seemed like many were opening much later than dinner spots in the rest of Spain, so be prepared for that. Early in day you can get some great Tapas in multiple locations, or Churros con Chocolate, however your tastes run.

We wandered through the narrow streets and discovered many interesting stores. It's a good stop for shopping before you take the Feve train nearby. The houses also have beautiful balconies and there is an old church nearby that add interest to this whole place. There is a pastry store that serves a wide selection of pastries and bread. It's a delight to those who love visit old town.

This is the place to immerse yourself in the 'Real' Bilbao rather than the sterile City Centre and it's High Street shopping uniformity. The tight, medieval alleys have a pulse, a buzz and you can absorb the atmosphere in the frenetic bars and stylish restaurants with all walks of colourful Basque life. The independant shop and trendy boutique filled streets are clean, easily navigated and safe.It hasn't many individual points of interest, aside from the imposing and central Santiago Cathedral, but the entire historical area should considered as an attraction - My favourite part of the city - especially at night when it comes alive!

This Casco Viejo is as impressive as the one in Barcelona, with restaurants, bars and flowery windows surrounding an old religious building. Definitely worth several visits.
