Get away from the crowds, and head for a nice relaxing walk up the hills. Amazing views of all of Donastia. Wear trainers and comfy clothes, it can get steep and there are some steps, bring water as there are no amenities at the top, a small bar half way up is all. Beautiful Nature all around as you wander up the mountain.Don't forget the water - And no flip flops, lots of stones to trip on :)

It's well worth a visit. An incredible landmark in San Sebatian. The views from the city from the top are incredible.

Well worth the effort if you don't mind a bit of a climb! Offered gorgeous views of the city on the only sunny day my friends and I were there. The fortress is pretty neat too. Bonus - it's free!

By hiking Monte Urgull, I have not only had wonderful views of San Sebastián but also spent a good time in contact with history and nature. The trails are beautiful and the fortress is well preserved. A must-go for everyone spending at least 2 days in Donostia, but remember that it requires energy to get up to the top: if you are not into making much physical effort, go to Monte Igueldo instead using the funicular!

This mountain lines the old city side of San Sebastián. Be prepared for quite a steep hike, but the views at the top are amazing! You can see la concha and the rest of the city from up here. We were at my igueldo as well but this offers a different perspective. Worth the climb!
Worldology
Well, first of all, hiking up there would be a great exercise, enjoying both see and the city landscape. Also, there is a kinda ethnology museum on top, so you see how people were living in this land many times ago.

I can not stress how much you need to make time to climb this. Friends and I had just finished lunch next to the pier and decided "Let's go up and see what's there!". I advise to wear some comfortable shoes and carry some extra water or a sandwich during the summer months. There's no little stall or booth to sell water. We didn't have any thinking it was a quick walk up and back and we got thirsty. Either way, totally worth it. I took my best pics up there and I even went back up again during sunset (since we went up the first time during mid-day) and snapped even better pictures. It's great with friends, great with a loved one and even great as a solo and reflective trek. You must go up.

Many trails lead to the top of Urgull, and they are all charming, often with benches for you to appreciate the view. Great panoramic of the city and the ocean from up there, and very interesting fortress with explanation signs around.

I desperately wanted to rate this a 4-star attraction but a few too many issues prevented me from doing so! It's a pleasant, moderately strenuous climb/walk to the top and the views from the top of Monte Urgull are their own reward but i don't think Monte's appeal is perhaps appreciated by local council or governing body as much as it should be. There must have been areas getting renovated or repaired when my wife and i visited but the ugly, unfixed railings used to prevent access were damaged and floored. The paths and steps appeared unloved and would benefit from the investment such a high ranking attraction deserves. Additional signposts directing the way to the top would enhance the experience and perhaps public toilets in the castle area might be nice too.

The walk is steep at times but we did it when windy and wet and had no trouble. Wear good walking shoes with grip on your soles.Unfortunately, the museum at the top was shut but the view of San Sebastián was great and learning more about the city's history was fascinating.Well worth it.

A good exercise climbing up the mountain to enjoy the views. You could see the views of San Sebastian old town and city, the Concha bay and the Santa Clara island from Mount Urgull. And it's free!

I won't spoil the surprise! This is an absolute must! You enter a time warp the minute you buy your ticket for the tram that takes you up the hill. Make sure you thoroughly explore the top once you get there, after taking in the breathtaking views. One of the highlights of my visit. San Sebastián is incredible!

I enjoyed taking the short boat ride to Monte Urgull, walking around the areas where apples trees grow and the beautiful views of the beaches that traverse San Sebastian

This was a definite favourite walk with spectacular views across San Sebastian old town and beaches. It is a little steep wear flat shoes. Its also free and has an enormous statue on the top and a small museum ( the old fort converted). They also provide translations on a speaker you can carry and listen as you explore. I thought this place was fascinating and the history really well presented. They also have a room with films from every decade narrated by local children - awesome! I spent ages here and really gained an appreciation for the Basque way of life, its past and amazingly - their future and visions for the next twenty years. Please don't miss this - its the best Ive seen.

What a wonderful place to explore and enjoy spectacular views of San Sebastian and the surrounding area. You won't be disappointed!
