This place is one of Amsterdams hidden gems! It's a unique 'tasting' house where you can try the local spirit 'Genever'. The friendly and entertaining staff give you the background information to the different flavours a kind of try before you buy but with absolutley no pressure. Andre is a credit to the business and very entertaining.Well worth seeking out, just ask the Concierge at the Krasnapolsky Hotel, they will direct you to the bar!

A wonderful experience, great atmosphere, the staff are real characters making the Jenever tasting even more fun. Learn the difference between Gin & Jenever, try some of the hundreds of varieties and flavours, slurp the first mouthful from the glass in traditional style, its all great fun. As a big gin fan I wished we had more time to try all the different types but we gave it our best shot to try a representative sample! The historic building is tucked away in a back street in the most unlikely area of town, but inside with all the old gin pots, sawdust on the floor and wooden bar that I'm sure could have told a few stories, it was like being transported back in time.

Wijnand Fockink is the cutest bodega of Amsterdam , perhaps the oldest too . It boosts a wide range of homemade brandy wines and liqueurs. The very friendly staff fill the glasses so full you must bow before your drink and take your first sip without moving the glass from the bar . One of the guys behind the counter is an ex ballet dancer and it shows !

We got into this pub, just after it opened, and the tasting room was already full, but after a small wait,we got our genever,we opted for the CHERRY,superb, funny the way you have to bow to take your first sip, without using your hands. We then had a go at the LEMMON,again fantastic, and finished off with the ANISEED,again absolutely gorgeous. This pub/bar/distillary,has been around since,1679,the decor is super, staff really nice, knowledgeable and hard working.Easy to locate on PILJSTEEG,which you find by just cutting off OUDEZIJDS VOOBURGWAL Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday, 3pm till 9pm.Great experience, great drinks.

The tasting bar is a bit like the Wand Shop in Harry Potter except its walls are lined with shelves of wonderful liquers. The staff are great, very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Well worth a visit.

Bar with a wide range of homemade brandy wines and liqueurs.Very friendly staff fill the glasses so full you must drink without moving the glass from the bar before u take ur first sip with no hands.2-3 bar staff serve a 4-5 people deep 5-6 people wide queue of people. Well worth the 10-15min wait but maybe best in the warmer months as limited space inside.

Even if you are not a fan of gin you still have to visit this tasting house. The knowledgeable staff are also very witty. You have to stand which is not a bad thing as the drinks can be quite strong. The qwirky way you have to slurp the first bit only adds to the whole experience. Highly recommended. Shots were about €3 each but we'll worth it.

Visited this ancient tasting room/bar after reading excellent reviews on TA. Bar staff are funny, friendly and informative. Left after trying lots of delicious flavours, feeling a little more knowledgable about Amsterdam's finest genever schnapps. Well worth the visit. Try the limited edition Xmas flavour before it's all gone (they don't make it any more)!

This lovely little place was recommended by our son, and we are so glad we paid it a visit. The bar tender was lovely. He explained all the drinks, told us how to drink them and had a great sense of humour.I started with the Creme Brulee Gin which was gorgeous, whilst my husband had a whisky flavour one. I then went on to try a chocolate one which was equally as good. I wanted to stay and tried loads more, but did not fancy crawling home. This will definitely be worth re-visiting on my next trip back... I saw how many flavours were left that I still wanted to try!!!

My friends took us here after dinner. The whole experience is amazing! Friendly little place, the whole ritual when you are served, savouring the liquor and the relaxed atmosphere inside and outside the bar is great! The little shop next door after you tried every flavour liquor you can think of is giving you the opportunity to buy your favourite one.A great mixture of locals and tourists, tucked away in a quite little street. A true gem in Amsterdam!

I saw this place in our guide book and was meeting a Dutch friend so asked if we could meet there. It's tiny and fascinating! The bar tender was carefully explaining the drinks to everyone, so it took a while to get served as the bar got busier, but we tasted about 5 different 'schnapps' of various flavours. Did wonders for a cold! Very centrally located but tucked away so you have to ask or look on phone for the map! Go there, it's great!

This genever and liqueur bar is tucked away just off Dam square, and is worth a visit. We tried a couple of different flavours served in the traditional style, and the bartender let us try them before we bought. Good value too - two tasting drinks came in under 6 euros. Could do with a little more space as it can get quite busy. Friendly staff.

The 45 minute tour was a nice way to experince the Dutch style drink. The tastings seem to come at you in rapid succession though. There was one point where my wife and I were worried if we would make it out on our own two feet. We did, and had a lovely time. If you have an extra 45 minutes on Saturday at 2pm, I recommend checking it out for the modest price of 20€.
