I remembered the museum from my childhood and could not believe what has been done to this once great establishment. The place is no more than a child care centre with useless plastic miniature replicas of dinosaurs, out of date videos about space, dead-end corridors with no flow through the museum. Numerous cafés with dirty tables overflowing with used crockery. Absolutely diabolical.

A free entrance modern museum. It tells the story of Liverpool in a light and different way. From football to music and docks history to transport. Child friendly.

I've recently returned from a break in Southport. While we were there we visited Liverpool museum. This lovely building is well worth a visit. It's best to start at the top and work your way down to the ground floor. Admission is free and has a nice café for you to refresh yourself after your walk round.

Very enjoyable,There's great information boards, interactive displays, short films and all well laid out over 3 floors. The staff are extremely helpful and attentive. There is an awful lot of things to see here, so I'd recommend leaving 3-4 hours to see it all. We had lunch at the cafe which was really lovely. I had a ham and cheese toastie with a bowl of chips (amazing chips) and a fruit tea.The toilets were very clean however I went into 3 different toilets and all didn't have towel to dry my hands on. I went on a week day so wasn't very busy except for school children and had to queue each time for the toilet as there was only 3 toilets on the lower floor toilets... definitely need more. This museum is definitely worth a visit...especially as it's free!!

Modern building housing a large collection of items charting the history of Liverpool and her people, very busy with school groups but plenty of space for all - nice cup of tea to be hand in caffe as well !

Another great venue - free entrance but donations are requested and why not? Worth a few £s of anyone's money for a thoroughly entertaining few hours looking around. Loads of interactive exhibits, short films to view etc. etc. Lockers available free of charge which saves you lugging everything around with you.

A fantastic free entry Museum. Everything on the Albert Dock is worth seeing. It is a wonderful history lesson and attracts tourists from all over the world. Especially school groups. Get up early and get there before the crowds. A must visit Museum.

Unfortunately all the museums seemed to close at 5pm and so we hadn't left enough time to do this justice. What we saw was very interesting, and would like to go back and see more of it. Lots of interactive displays which would appeal to the children especially, - and all the museums are free!

A really good museum though catered more for the older visitor, lots to see and gives you a good insite into Liverpool life.

Interesting modern building, a successful contrast to the iconic "Three Graces" located (very) nearby. Close to the Albert Dock ( and thus to The Maritime Museum and Tate Liverpool); also close to Liverpool 1 if you enjoy shopping. Interior is bright and well -organised and the staff are very helpful. Exhibits are themed in a clear way. I particularly enjoyed the football movie, the history of poverty and regeneration and the section on Liverpool writers and poets. Everything is user-friendly and there seemed to be plenty that would interest children.

A very large building with various artefacts you would expect. Would have expected there to be more in there to be honest not a lot about the Beatles seemed to be large areas with not a lot in there

Didn't get to see enough of it as I was with kids. Would love to go back and spend more time experiencing more

Great place for children and adults alike. Lots of things to see and do educational but fun. If you have cases they have lockers FREE. Go release your inner child.
