We have been meaning to visit here for a long time.We were not disappointed - it is lovely and definitely worth a visit. There are masses of books on display - some of them enormous but best of all is the building itself. It is beautiful and well worth a visit.

John Rylands library is a truly magnificent 19th century neo-gothic building right in the heart of Manchester. It is in the middle of the main thoroughfare of Deansgate and as such is very easy to visit when in central Manchester. I thought some of its features like the main staircase and stained glass windows were superb. I really did enjoy every aspect of the building and found it to be a very interesting and informative visit.

Lived in Manchester my whole life and didn't realise you could visit this library for free/open to the public. Since finding out I have been back several times. It is BEAUTIFUL and certainly worth a visit - like Hogwarts!

This was free, fantastic and utterly charming. I highly recommend it, we went on a Sunday and it was quiet and really interesting.

If you are into history like I am you are in for a treat. If you like wandering around looking at ancient manuscripts & mega old books from way back when you are in for a treat. This Library & its contents are from a time many years ago & located in the middle of Deansgate what else do you want for free? SOME PEALS OF WISDOM.Marry in haste, repent at leisure. No such thing as computer error, human error yes.Laughter is the best medicine .
