well this place has fantastic views and some of the picture you can take are phenominal! There is a pay & display carpark near by and you can walk as little or as long as you want

Fabulous location with stunning views of the fells in this area, in all directions. Cannot fault the facilities or the staff. And how's this for a view from the caravan. A photographer's paradise - Skiddaw, Latrigg, Catbells and the Newlands Valley, Causey Pike, Grisedale Pike - all can be viewed from the site.

Walked round the lake starting at Keswick going clockwise - East side. Stopped at e Lodores Hotel for lunch - very welcoming . A shness bridge worth a little diversion . Round the West side you can climb Catbells hill - we left it for another day.!

Walk around the lake from just below Cat Bells and take the steamer home. No better way to spend a late summer afternoon. Stunning and some iconic photo ops.

A lovely walk! Can't wait to visit in the summer and go across the lake on a boat. We enjoyed pitch and putt, going to have to try crazy golf next time!

Beautiful lake at all times but especially after a dusting of snow on the mountains, walk as far and as much as you want, or just sit and admire the views.

Clean and cold, surrounded by snow topped fells. Late afternoon tea and home made shortbread in the hotel lounge following a days out and about.. Magic

Incredible stretch of water which is great and easy to walk to from the centre of Keswick and, if feeling more energetic, can fill most of your day if you want to walk all the way around it. You can also hop on to one of the boats that covers the lake and I think they have a few points you can get on and off.

Walked on the Catbells side of the lake. Lovely ramble on the shore of the lake on return. Good views towards Skiddaw

What a peaceful, sunny, crispy day we had walking along the Derwent Water which is used by the Distillery in it's products. People and dogs of all ages and shapes & sizes enjoyed walking through the trees, along the water and back again. A lovely way to picnic and to heighten your senses. We did not complete the full walk which we understand can take 5 hours or so but we may next time. We would advise setting out early as you do not want to be caught out late as the lighting may not be good near the lake! There is also a theatre on the lake but was closed when we went on Valentines weekend. Check availability

Is derwentwater my favourite place in all the world. Probably, but then again I havnt been to many places. On the other hand when I am there I don't want to go anywhere else.To sit at Friars Crag and look down the lake is for me just heavenly. The way Keswick nestles cozily at the end of the lake is just perfect and the view of Borrowdale as you drive or walk down the lake side is breathtaking. I have been going to Derwentwater for nearly thirty years and would like to think I have thirty years more of returning. There are times when it becomes very busy at the Keswick end but it would be mean spirited to think others should not share in this beautiful place. Besides which if you walk along the lake side a little way you soon lose most of the crowds and of you go up Walla crag you can sometimes be totally alone (not so up Catbells). Can't wait for my next hit.

Take the time to walk around the whole lake ...you won't be disappointed !! The first half , leaving from the theatre by the lake is quieter and hugs the side of the lake for the first few miles. Welcome coffee in the hotel half way around. View stunning !!

Walk around it, sail on it, swim in it, canoe on it or just sit and look at it. Derwentwater just has to be part of your Lake District experience

What a lovely place and so close to the town centre. We took a trip on the boat which was very nice if a little expensive. The lake shore is lovely to walk around. Would recommend.
