Brilliant. That's what we like. Enjoyable through out. Everything is done properly. We will come back again.

What a beautiful place. We enjoyed strolling around the lake and gardens absorbing the sights and sounds of nature. After a busy week at work what else could be better?!!!

If you are a lover of lakes then you will love Sheffield Park. There is no house here to look at but the gardens have 5 lakes and lovely wooded walks.

Best times of the year are Spring for the Azaleas and Rhododendrons and Autumn for the spectacular leaf colours.

Great day out particularly for the Autumn colours. A little expensive admission charge but well worth it.

The time to see these gardens at their best is in the Autumn (October). The glorious reds and burnished golds of the trees, reflected in the lakes, is a rare treat. As a National Trust member I try to go each year to take in the magnificent views. So very relaxing and therapeutic. After a leisurely walk around the gardens drop into the café for a well earned cuppa and slice of cake!

Lovely place to visit for both adults and children.Great for photography buffs, like myself. As we do not live too far away, we do visit quite often. lovely for picnics

Owned by the National Trust. There is plenty to see especially in spring and autumn. There is a shop and restaurant. Plenty of parking

My husband, son and I decided to visit Sheffield park for an early morning walk on a crisp Sunday morning. We arrived just when the gates opened and found that we hardly met anyone as we followed the paths around the gardens. There were lots of interesting things to point out to my 4 year old who enjoyed hiding, climbing and running through the undergrowth. After over an hour we decided we needed some warming up and headed for the Tea rooms for some light refreshments. This was only the second time we had visited this part of the park as I was disappointed the first time. Unfortunately not much had changed on our second visit. As a Coeliac I am always curious on what provisions any public place makes for gluten free diets and have often been surprised with the offerings from some NT Tea rooms and restuarants. However I was stuck with just a coffee as there wasn't even a pre packed gluten free cake available to recharge my batteries. My husband and son had a snack each with a drink, but there wasn't a lot on offer all around and we didn't hang around for long.We will be returning to Sheffield Park in the future as it's beautiful and well laid out gardens are a must see at all times of the year, but we will be bringing snacks and a flask!

Sheffield Park and Garden is a stunningly beautiful place at any time of year. Today we went in January and we saw snowdrops and such a range of different greens from the evergreens. The lake views are amazing and it is lovely to follow the little paths and cross the little bridges. The tea rooms are very atmospheric and we had a delicious leek and potato soup with good bread. There is also an interesting second had bookshop in the tea room. It is a gorgeous place to visit and makes me pleased to be a NT member. There are some areas which you can't reach with a wheelchair.

Just down the road from the Bluebell Railway, Sheffield Park gardens are a great place to visit. As it is on the side of a hill with lakes cascading down to the stream at the bottom of the valley some parts are not accessible for wheelchairs but there are well made paths for most of the park and I have pushed a wheelchair around the accessible parts. The cafe is outside of the property in the old stables and can be visited separately if you just some refreshment and there are paths if you want a longer walk around and outside the estate.I would recommend Sheffield Park for short or long visits, probably at its best in late spring and summer, when the lakes are at their best.

I try to visit at least twice a year and may come even more, now that Wakehurst Place fines NT members by charging us to park there so I don't go there any more. The staff/volunteers here are exceptionally pleasant and helpful. Parking is plentiful right outside the entrance and is free. The entrance charge seems quite high but is worth it and of course NT members don't have to pay any extra. The café/restaurant is very good and is outside the gardens, a short walk from the entrance. Note this is a landscaped park rather than a formal garden so don't expect to see ornamental flower borders etc. There is a wonderful display of spring bulbs all over from March onwards, followed later in the Spring and into the Summer by hundreds of rhododendrons and azaleas - I nearly forgot to mention the magnolias - but the best season is Autumn when the foliage hues are spectacular and reflected wonderfully in the lakes. I have just paid a winter visit and although the bleakest season it's still a pleasant wander round and if you like flowers there are some magnificent witch hazels. There are no negatives at all for me. Some paths can become muddy in wet weather but we should expect that. The main paths are well-maintained and these gardens are very accessible for wheelchair users. And, last but not least, Lord Sheffield's historic cricket ground has been recreated in recent years.
