Great to go up and down the locks on a narrow oat with all the tourists watching and helping! The site itself was very interesting as the locks are very old yet are still operational.

Very interesting location and fascinating to see so many locks up a step hill in such a short distance.

Well worth the visit. Parked in the Long Term part and it was a pleasant walk to the top of the locks and then you can follow the locks down. On the way back up we explored the area where they had a boat lift which I found interesting. Worth a visit.

When the Spring arrives, why not take a ride out to Foxton Locks, just a short drive on the Leicester Road, sign posted Foxton, not far from Market Harborough. You will be amazed at the beautiful countryside, the boats moored and the quaint shops, restaurants and public houses located after a short walk from the car park. (Usual car parking charges apply)There is a long boat which gives visitors a pleasant and relaxing ride up the lazy river where the trees and wildlife can be admired. ( A small fee is charged)The long boats move through thirteen locks. The owners seem to revel in their hobby and seem not to mind the constant moving of the locks. What a fascinating sight this is!This visit can be enjoyed on warmer, sunnier days. However, if you can brave the weather, hot chocolate is there to warm you and help you on your way.

Lots to do and see. Good walking. A couple of good pubs at the bottom Lock. A reasonable little museum run by volunteers. Fascinating historical insight. A couple more good pubs in the village itself.

An incredible piece of Victorian engineering, beautiful setting and good food and drink to be had. The on site museum is small but really interesting and shows the existing and lost history of the site. Busy with Narrow boats going both up and down the lock stairway, also boat trips available during the summer months.

We decided to go out for the day to shake the cobwebs out of our motor home. Deciding on Foxton Locks, we arrived at about 11am and stopped in the top car park. This is the long stay and is £1.50 all day at time of typing! There are toilets that are clean and a path, up the road (left at the gate) to the bridge. From there on to the towpath. We walked towards the locks and the first building is a cafe. Tea, coffee and hot & cold food are available throughout the day. Of course, I smelt bacon and although it was only 11:30, we had to stop and eat. The all day breakfast comes in a styrene container. We sat in the old stable and unwrapped the food. 2 eggs, 2 sausage, 2 bacon, beans and mushrooms with a buttered roll, all for £5! We also had tea at £1.30 per cup. The food was good within the limitations of a place like this. No facilities to be really comfortable as we would have been in a roadside cafe, but it was above expectations. We walked to the bottom of the hill, went all around and looked into the lower, short stay car park to see if the old Motor Home would fit. It would. At £2.00 for 4 hours, it is still not bad value. All in all a pleasant day out, had some tea in the Van and then went home.. Tired but very happy.

A lovely day out for the family, couples or even if you are on your own. Nice pub if you have completed a long bike ride or walk. Very much recommended visit of historic interest !

This is just a nice walk in pretty surroundings and even better on a nice sunny day. The locks are all well maintained and well worth a look. Be careful if you have young children with you. Keep them away from the edge of the canal. You can get a nice coffee and cake if you wish along the route. It can get quite busy at the weekend too, so if you want to chill try going in the week when it is much quieter.

A good place to visit on a nice day. Seeing the barges negotiate the numerous locks and the gradients are a challenge in itself. Not for those who don't like walking up hill though ! A couple of pubs and pub grub available

It was very cold and the water had iced up so the noise of the cracking ice was very surreal. Good place to walk.

We regularly visit Foxton Locks as were local and it's a great place if you want a nice walk and a bite to eat. There are 2 car parks, the top lock one means a pleasant stroll down the hill at the side of the canal and past the locks before you reach the restaurant and pub of if you would rather there is a second car park at the bottom next to the restaurant. Both the pub and restaurant serve both main meals and snacks and there is plenty of seating. The good is tasty and well priced and with bear gardens for the sunnier months it has great views. In the summer there are also canal boat tours lasting approx 20 minutes. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.
