I am a great fan of the tv series, Hornblower, and found that I could easily imagine myself serving on it. Very informative, lots to see, and always worth another visit. Ask for any special offers on admission fees - could last for several visits if lucky.

Couldn't fault it as a Museum, we all had a great day out there. My eldest son had a whale of a time pretending to be a pirate, steering the ship and ringing the bell. Even on a cold and windy day! Access is slightly restriced, there is a lift on the ship, but they couldn't fit it to reach all decks. Hardly surprising given the age of the ship and the size of the thing. Also, if you are tall, or even slight above average height, you are going to have to "duck or grouse". The surrounding docks also add to the visit.

We had a very enjoyable couple of hours here. The war ship is in my opinion fantastic. A real eye opening experience to be inside such an old ship. I am just under 6 foot with a slightly bad back though and found it a little uncomfortable as the ceilings are so low. We paid 30 pounds for a family ticket which entitles us to 4 further visits within a year. I was more than I had expected to pay, but on the whole worth it I think. The other free museum next door is also well worth a visit.

I enjoyed the visit very much. It was interesting and I will be looking at taking the grandchildren this year.

Interesting displays and the ship itself was an eye opener. What a hard life the sailors must have had back in the day. It was really iterating and the staff were helpful. Cafe was ok but machine coffee rather than the real thing.

Really good experience for kids. A little on the small side so can be visited in an afternoon. Not just got the ship to visit, dockside historically set up.

I visited Hartlepool in August 2014, the main reason for my visit was to be reunited with an ex merchant navy Officer from the 1960's, who lived not too far from Hartlepool, so my wife & I travelled from Norfolk & met him at the Maritime Museum, I must say we all thought the museum was excellent & HMS Trincomalee gave us an insight as to how sailors from nearly 200 years agolived their everyday lives in cramped conditions, the Trincomalee, a 38 gun frigate which was built in Bombay for the British Navy, has been brilliantly restored to it's former glory & is well worth a visit for all ages.

Visiting the NE of England on an annual basis we often end up visiting the same old places. It was therefore a delight to discover the Hartlepool Maritime experience. A lot of effort has obviously been put into making this a genuine experience and I would consider this well worth the money. The Trincomalee has been well restored and the quayside is well planned to set the scenario. A good hour or so of educational experience and eye opening.

This is an outstanding attraction and any visit has the potential to transport the visitor back to an era that we've completely lost touch with. Visits should be compulsory.

I found that the Hartlepool historic quay was good I enjoyed my visit although the fighting ships and HMS Trincomalee was very long I would recommend this trip to younger children around primary age and on the Trincomalee the roofs are very low so just a hint and careful if your tall I’m not very tall but I still had to crouch to walk through the ship I really thought our Trincomalee tour guide knew what she was saying and asked us many questions to help us remember the free part of the museum is very good and the large indoor boat I enjoy playing in as it was my Yr6 teachers dads boat overall it was a good trip but could have been shortened a slight bit.

Have a nice Sunday lunch. The surroundings are fab. It was a first time visit, which we both enjoyed. Should really visit again. Good value for money on our door step. We say use it or lose it. Somewhere to visit in the holiday period.

We had a fantastic visit to HMS Trincomalee, not only looking round the ship, but all the other attractions sited around the dock, also next door was a maritime museum. All I all well worth the visit and highly recommended. The parking was free as well!

I visited the Trincomalee after having seen the hull for many years sitting in Portsmouth Harbour. It is absolutely amazing the restoration and authenticity of the work. We had a most enjoyable day and I would definitely say it is a show stopper if you enjoy Naval history.
