What a pleasure it was for me to share in the Founders Day Service a few weeks ago. The Rev David Hutchison conducted the service in an highly competent, moving manner, while The very Rev John Chalmers Moderator of the Church of Scotland delivered a sermon even Hawkins would have appreciated. The music was 'out of this world' - absolutely fantastic choir. Is such a high level of performance really worship!!!! I'll let God decide that one!!! It was mind blowing. The Chapel is a lovely building and a very quietly friendly staff keep the visitor right about proceedings. You can try a mid-week Wednesday service too.

The whole setting is for me the epitome of perfection. The building , the design and craft are perfect. To people like me who adore England's characteristic buildings, this one is quite a pick.To have the benefit of listening to the boys singing, you think you are hearing Angels...Going through the church you see the writings of the elders and learn the history of the academic life in Europe and England. You will be astonished to learn that the first who could read and write were the clergy people who spoke several languages like Greek, Hebrew and Latin. The visit is a joy.

The university has essentially taken over and preserved the beautiful, historic part of the city and it's a great place to wander small lanes and get lost. We were there in the winter while everyone was away, so I'm not sure if you can roam so freely when classes are in session, but it's a really beautiful and haunting part of the city.

Amazing piece of Architecture inside and out, with it's crown shaped roof this building needs to be seen to be believed.It's surroundings do it justice, the high street which meanders up through the University Grounds toward the Channory is an old world cobbled street with meandering closes and side streets a plenty. Then there is the history of Aberdeen Uni itself, look out for the world famous scholars who taught there. Aberdeen alone had 2 Universities whilst England had only 2 in the entire country, Oxford and Cambridge. Unlike these more famous Universities, both Aberdeen Universities, Glasgow and Edinburgh were all four attribiuted with the Enlightenment. A period where human civalisation as a whole took a giant leap forward into a period of unrivalled discovery and invention, where emenant philosophers establish concepts concepts such as Market Economics, Science, Mathematics. The enlightenment period is widely held up as the birth if the modern world and without it we'd probably all still think the work is flat.Old Aberdeen has an unchanged old world charm which makes for some genuinely world class photo oppertunities.Take the walking route starting here, up the channory, past St Machar Cathedral through Seaton Park to the Old Brig O Balgownie in the North of the City, finishing at the Mouth of Don Nature Reserve.

really enjoyed walking through and experiencing such detail to aesthetics & beauty...the structures and especially the statue of the tomb outside were terrific to see...and what luck that while I was pacing through the cathedral someone was practicing on the pipe-organ! seeing what man constructs from imagination inspired by religion(s) is THE good thing...

Beautiful stained glass .. Working prereformation chapel ... Sunday evening mass during term time .. Often with singing in Latin. Sit in the choir stalls

No need to take big detours for this (if you're not a big fan of chapels of course) but it's really a nice little chapel! :)

Lovely example of Aberdeen architecture- the crown tower is worth a look, and he interior tells a story about the history of Aberdeen Uni, the old town and religious change. Go and see the conference centre- I sigh every time because I recall it in its library heyday- like the Bodleian

Work in here regularly,it's very interesting,and original,the wooden decor CANNOT be replaced,it's priceless,lots of memories scream out from the nameplates adorning the walls,peaceful,serene,humbling,well worth the time and effort to spend a little time in a piece of history.

Be patient finding the door. It is on the other side. Very peaceful chapel. Unattended. A lot of college students outside but don't let that stop you from walking around the chapel. It's worth a visit if you have time but not a must.

The chapel was stunning - so many interesting features. An ideal place for a wedding. There was nothing not to like. The venue was full of character.

WOW...amazing stained glass ..gorgeous and worth a visit.Nothing to dislike..enjoyed the whole day.

As a student of Aberdeen University, it was only in my fourth year that I finally got to see the chapel itself. I'm glad I waited because it was so nice to see something different in Aberdeen. It is well kept and is one of the oldest parts of university. It is definitely one part of Old Aberdeen any tourist should see.

Situated in old Aberdeen it’s a wonderful place to go and well worth a visit both the interior and exterior. As an added bonus take a walk round the old town it surrounds the University and St Machar’s Cathedral. It’s a complete contrast to the city centre, known as the new Aberdeen, located round the train station, Union Street and port area all which hold their own fascination.
