Looking at it from a Strathaven point of view it looks good but from somebody visiting it has everything anybody could wish for their kids to play at and very safe

Beautiful, well-maintained park with play areas, boating pond, fitness area, cafe, trains, football pitches and a river running through it. Boating, cafe and trains are only open in the summer and there are two free car parks. Excellent place to visit with kids.

Good mixture of open areas to walk in and children's play area with boating pond. Miniature railway is popular but I believe it is operated by volunteers so not always on. They have included outside exercise machines. Worth a visit.

Great lawn bowling green, tennis courts due for extension and modernisation, boating pond, children's swings, roundabout etc? Cafe very busy in summer with queues for the ice lollipops and ice cream. A real asset to Strathaven..

Visited Strathaven Park today with a 6 year old. The sun was shining but the park was surprisingly quiet. There is a free car park (always a bonus!). The park has a traditional bandstand and a small river running through it. I was a bit disappointed that the miniature train wasn't running but my grand-daughter enjoyed the bouncy castle and the pedalo we hired on the boating pond. (Canoes and kayaks are available for hire too.) Refreshments are available in the café which I felt was in need of a refurb. A play area for smaller children is next to the boating pond and the play area for older children is further along the path. We spent several hours in the park before rain stopped play. We will return again on a weekend in the hope that the miniature railway is operating. A good place to spend a few hours.
