we took our bikes for a cycle around the loch which is a fairly easy route and the views are pretty. We did the leisure cruise on the Lady of the Lake which was great and the crew, Callum in particular, were brilliant with the kids. We will definitely go back again in warmer weather and do it all again.

We went during February so it meant it was nice and quiet. Hired out a couple of bikes and cycled for a hour. There is a lovely private road around the loch so cycling isn't difficult. The views are gorgeous. Didn't have a go on the boat but I was told that is also a great way to view the surrounding area.

We went on the Loch Katrine cruise on New Year's Day. Despite the pouring rain that day it was a brilliant experience. Lovely crew, snug boat (though you could go up on deck if you fancied it), Scottish snacks and drinks and beautiful, remote landscape all around. Just a bit of commentary to stop you getting bored but not too much to become annoying. Well worth doing.

I had wanted to go to loch katrine for ages then decided to book tickets as part of a weekend trip. It was even better than I had expected. Stunning views on a lovely boat. From the Callander end there are many places to eat and drink. At the stronachlachar end there is a nice cafe at the pier. I would say this is a highly rated thing to do in the trossachs.

To get to the starting point of Ben A’an follow the A821 either from Kilmahog (by Callander) or from Aberfoyle. However, the road from Aberfoyle is the more interesting one as it goes along the Dukes Pass in The Queen Elizabeth Forest Park and offers some good views to the surrounding area including Ben A'an and Ben Venue. For those who like to combine climbing Ben A’an and other hills or mountains, there are many possibilities in the area. Just a few hundred metres south-west of Ben A’an Car Park starts the path up to Ben Venue. This neighbour is 729m high and the walk has a length of approximately 5km. The highest hill of the Trossachs is Ben Ledi and offers fantastic views on Loch Lubnaig and Loch Venachar.

We brought our own bikes since the rental companies aren't open on weekdays this time of year. Despite the cloudy weather the loch was still beautiful - great biking!

I have visited Loch Katrine once or twice a year since 1979 and still find the 80 mile round trip well worth while. Choose a sunny day if possible, outside the main tourist season, and you'll experience peace, tranquillity and some of the most beautiful scenery anywhere on earth. In late Autumn when the bracken has turned brown, the leaves on the trees display traditional colours and the low angle of the sun produce some spectacular views. What I like best are the small islands dotted about the loch on which has developed a variety of conifers and other plants. Nobody has planted any of them but each is nature at its best.I always feel mentally refreshed after visiting Loch Katrine but ensure you go out of season as it can be anything but peaceful when hoards of visitors all arrive at once.

When people visit Loch Katrine it is usually to the main car park area where they leave their cars and coaches to look at or board the pleasure steamer, and while this is all fine and dandy I thought it worth pointing out that there is another way to enjoy a visit to the loch which, in my opinion, is the best - certainly if you are in your own car. From Aberfoyle take the very pretty B829 along the shores of Loch Ard and Loch Chon to Stronachlachar, which is a small hamlet at the Western end of Loch Katrine. Apart from when the steamer is in this is a very quiet and peaceful place with gorgeous views of the loch and the surrounding countryside. There is also a fabulous tea room in the old ferry waiting room (see separate review) where you can enjoy a relaxing coffee while anticipating the pleasures of the return drive.

We have been many time over the years. Autumn is my favourite time of the year in the trossachs, with the gorgeous colour of the changing trees. We also had a really nice lunch there with very large portions, good service and great value for money.

Lovely leisurely boat ride on an old steam ship. Fabulous scenery and very pleasant service.Other attractions include hire bikes (some with motor assistance) and golf buggy hire to see the lake motorised or pedal power. Good cafe as well.

Loch Katrine is just so lovely a place to visit, and provides the opportunity of a peaceful cycle ride along the loch side. The route (of some 12 miles I beileve) takes you to Stronachlachar, and is along a road which has very restricted traffic. It does have some hilly sections, but it is well worth the effort as it affords some beautiful views and is such a tranquil route. If you do not fancy cycling both ways you can always catch the steamship Sir Walter Scott one way,and cycle the return journey. Certainly a highlight of a visit to the Trossachs.

Went here on the last day of our holiday in Scotland. We had originally booked a one hour cruise on the Loch because we didn't think we could make the two hour cruise which left at 10.30 but our journey from Falkirk went ok so we were able to re-book the two hour cruise. We embarked on the Sir Walter Scott steamship and had a very relaxing cruise. The crew were very helpful and gave a descriptive commentary during the trip. There were only about twenty passengers on the day which made it very comfortable and we all sat in the forward lounge which gave us good views of the surrounding area (photos cannot give you the atmosphere) you need to go there to feel it ! There was a small servery on board where teas etc were available, a crew member took our order and brought it to us ( a nice touch). Cycle hire is available at the point of embarkation and you can travel with bikes on the ship one way and cycle back the other. There is a nice café on the hill at the starting point plus a small gift shop. Well worth a visit.
