Back in August, my mother, younger sister and I went to Gray's Tearooms. My sister ordered a chicken salad. There was no information on the menu about anything in this particular salad having nuts in it (which we assumed there wouldn't be as it was a chicken salad!!) My sister took one bite from the salad and knew something was wrong. Her throat started to close up, her face went bright red, she felt like she needed to vomit and she began to panick-there were nuts in the salad. My mother called the waitress over and asked her if there was nuts in the salad, she then went to the kitchen to check as she didn't know!! This lost valuable time. When it was discovered there was nuts in the dressing, instead of offering to call a doctor or carry out any form of protocol, the waitress continued to ask myself and my mother if we would like our dessert and if we would like more tea. We looked at her in shock before my mother ran down to the local chemist to get an antihistamine for my sister who was having an allergic reaction. This 13 year old girl had to be comforted in front of other customers by myself and my mother, who thankfully is a nurse!! She was embarrassed and began to panick even more by the thought of customers and several staff members staring at her. As I supported my sister to the car, my mother went to pay. She was shocked and disgusted to see that she was charged for this chicken salad but she refused to pay for it, for obvious reasons. We then rushed to the health centre, which we found by chance as nobody in Gray's directed us to any medical help.From the health centre, where she was given treatment including adrenaline injections, my sister was rushed to Altnagalvin by AMBULANCE. Thankfully the doctor in the health centre was completely and utterly professional unlike the staff in Grays. Thankfully, my sister recovered. The staff/management of Gray's didn't have the courtesy to contact us to see if my sister was okay. Obviously we were angered by the experience. The staff didn't treat this ALLERGIC REACTION with any seriousness. So a few weeks later, my mother returned to make a point of this as she didn't want any other family to go through what we went through that day. She spoke to a member of management, who was downright rude and inconsiderate. He didn't ask if my sister was ok and took absolutely no blame. He instead insulted my mother, telling her that she had "upset" one of the waitresses by rushing her to find out what exactly was in the salad!! In addition, he said "and you didn't even pay for the chicken salad you ordered." My mother was in utter shock.To this day, we have never received any form of apology from Gray's Tearooms for THEIR mistakes, in professionalism and lack of care shown to my sister. I am positive that neither my mother, sister or I will ever be returning to Gray's. And we will make a point of telling many others of our experience. Even writing this more than 3 months on, I am still angered by it. If my mother wasn't a nurse and if we hadn't found the health centre by chance my sister could have died. That is how serious her reaction was and I am NOT exaggerating. I strongly urge anybody who is thinking of going to Gray's Tearooms to rethink.In regard to the staff and management of Gray's Tearooms, customer service is essential in any business and I have no doubt that my mother, sister and I received the worst customer service we have ever experienced in your business on that particular day. Your staff NEED to have a basic knowledge of firstly (and I took this for granted) what exactly each dish on the menu is composed of!! And secondly, first aid and in particular the correct protocol to take when someone is having an allergic reaction. The management of this establishment need to have a long hard look at their processes. They also need to revise the saying "The customer is always right." I will never forget how angry, shocked and humiliated my mother was after complaining to a particular member of management about our experience. She even paid for that disastrous chicken salad on that day. I could go on and on about my experience in Gray's Tearooms. I am totally disgusted and I will never forget what we had to go through because of this ridiculous business. Sort yourselves out before some serious harm is done!

We called one day for a light lunch... potato and leek soup with bread and my friend had a chicken vol au vent and chips... good, although a little salad garnish would have been tasty. Someone had already awarded the shop a tripadvisor sticker, which obviously isn't valued too highly as it is stuck to the side of a cool cabinet at the base, where few would see it!!!

If you are in Strabane you cannot pass this little gem. I'm so glad we found it. You would nearly walk by it on the street. It doesn't look like a cafe at all! As soon as you walk in the door you are transported back in time. The food is brilliant and the staff are lovely. Toilet (upstairs) is spotless. Great atmosphere. Take your mother. She will appreciate the vintage vibe.

A friend and I had lunch there last Saturday. The food was delicious and the staff were pleasant. It was excellent value for money. I do have a few constructive suggestionsUse real instead of artificial flowersLose the plastic tablecloths - not a good look

The white chocolate and rasperry scones are a must!! Great for lunch or just a cup of tea and a catch up!!

Gray's printers tea roomsis located on the main street strabane it is a beautiful old world building with brilliant staff and great homemade food we were seated upstairs looking out over the cobbled courtyard were you are welcome to sit which we did after our meal and had a lovely coffee. Overall this place is a great addition to strabane and great value also. We will be back soon.

This a lovely tea room with a very vintage feel. I went with my mum when I was home for a visit and wasn't disappointed. The food was great, the decor lovely and the staff were very friendly. If I had one small criticism I would recommend a better way for the kitchen staff to signal to the waiting staff. They currently open the kitchen door and let it slam shut again which can be a bit annoying if you sit near the door but maybe I am fussy. Other than that it is a great addition to the town and the specials are well worth a try.

it is was our first visit to strabane for many years and boy is it changed!!! things are looking up for this town , we found this lovely quante tea room on the main street and what lovely coffee , scones and traybakes, we will most surely be back

It was a lovely surroundings and we were served by waitress which was a change from having to stand at counter and wait. I had the butternut squash soup with chilli bread and it was delicious. The selection of buns, scones and traybakes were lovely. I was too early for the lunch menu but it sounded great and I would defo be returning to sample. The waitress was very helpful and pleasant.

What a beautiful delightful tea room, which has been completely refurbished to a very high standard.On entering the tea room, i got that lovely coffee aroma and was taken back in time with lace table cloths and a china cup and saucer. Home made scones and cakes were at the ready, with a classy menu to suit all tastes. Well worth a visit, you will not be dissapointed, I promise.
