For such a small compact stretch of woodland this place is magnificent and magical in every season. From the roar of the River Roe to the fantastic specimens of trees on display it is a feast for the senses. Great fishing, walks and with a cafe that does the very best caramel squares, it is worth a visit with the dog, as a couple or a family.

20th dec 14 - ON arrival at the reception we were meet by a friendly receptionist who was telling us how wonderful this deal was going down so well. You could book Santa to arrive at your room within 15 mins of asking the receptionist between 6.00 & 7.15 as the film show starts at 7.30. However we could not book it with her as she was finishing her shift and the next receptionist would book it. We went to the bar/ grill to get some food. My wife ordered a WELL DONE fresh cod & chips, 1 kids chicken nuggets/chips , kids Spaghetti and chicken gougons/chips on arrival of the food my wife noticed that the fish was under cooked and there was a strange taste of the chips... None of us ate the meal --- the serving waiter arrived back to ask if everything was ok we told him no that the meal was disgusting ... He left and a few minute later the manager/ owner asked us what was wrong.. He noticed none of us had ate the food.. His response was nobody else all day had complained about the food and he would take the price of the fish of the bill. We paid and left the bar, I went to book Santa at 5.40 and was told he was fully booked until 6.45/7.00 ok then book me in for 7 ... ( remembering that the film started at 7.30 ) : 7.20 no Santa ,, phoned reception told he was on his way ...... 7.55 ,, still no Santa,,,, ( very hard to control 2 excited child in a room for nearly an hour waiting on Santa ) 8.10 in pops Santa ,, asks elves kids names ,,, a quick photo ,,, and told us that the film was starting and left .... Whole visit 3.23mins ( the length of time recorded on iPad from start to finish.... We went downstairs to find that the film was half over... 80 o/o of the kids were running wild as their parents were in the lounge drinking while 2 very young elves were minding their kids... The hot chocolate was cold and the biscuits soggy.... I must admit the bacon the next morning was nice.... My advise,, until this hotel can organize a proper service for this deal go to a different hotel who can organize it... Here's the maths. ... 33 rooms ( which were booked on this night for Santa ) to do in 90mins. ... So... How many santas does it take to spend 5 mins in each room between 6.00 & 7.30... Triple the amount that was on this night. ( as there was only one on). Very very disappointed with the standards of this hotel ..... On such a special occasion for young children.... If you run an event like this remember. I am not a baby sitter for other people's kids ... They brought them.. They should look after them like I looked after my kids...

about 8 km for the main trail along the banks of the river roe and various detours through the forest. An excellent way to spend a morning and some beautiful scenery and quiet time.

There's a range of walks in this country park, where entry is free. We opted to walk upstream right alongside the river on an easy good surface path. After about a mile and a quarter we reached an area where some site work was in progress and switched to the other bank via a bridge. After another 15 minutes or so walking this brought us to a weir where we had the thrill of watching fish jumping and wriggling up against the stream. The river was delightful, and the only disappointment was seeing very little bird life.

The Country Park is excellent for a gentle stroll - particularly to work off and excellent meal! Dog friendly and not to strenuous

Great walks, well signposted, river views and not too busy, especially the section from the visitor centre up to the Roe Valley hotel

Loved the relaxed atmosphere, but staff need inducted it better , no phones or chewing gum, just fine tweeks that will make it more classy

This is a really beautiful and tranquil area. The park is spacious and set in the roe valley. The park offers walks along the river, has a lovely cafe and museum. The park is also idea for picnics. The park is very close to the Roe Park hotel which is an excellent hotel.

This scenic and tranquil park on the outskirts of Limavady offers spectacular riverside views and woodland walks along with opportunities for salmon and trout fishing, canoeing and rock climbing. Its a brilliant place, with beautiful scenery and wildlife. There are many areas to sit down and watch the river go by. The river plunges through spectacular gorges and its banks are clothed in mature woodland. There is toilets and picnic area's at Dog leap Countryside Centre. There are also tea rooms open all year round There is alternative routes leading to the country park. One way that may be useful too visitors is the entrance leading into Limavady woods is based at the back carpark of 'The Roe Park Resort Hotel'

I was taken here for my birthday in June! It was a great experience lovely hotel the best part was the food it was lovely best I've tasted especially the clock and bull. The spa is lacking I feel the pool should be updated as was cold and not that big. But overall a pleasant stay :)

Unspoilt walk along the river bank.Enjoyed a cuppa in the tea room. Disappointed that the visitor centre was not open on our Friday visit.

We visited Roe Valley Country Park for a walk with our 2 dogs. What a magnificent park. Very clean and peaceful. Plenty of dog waste bins and nice to see dog owners using them. Walking along the river to the bridge and back on the other side was approx 3 miles. Just right for us.
