just shops & restaurants. OK for kids. at least, a short ride from Rovaniemi but nothing of interest. Situated on the arctic circle with a wire representing the arctiv circle at 66,33,07

The village area is nice to walk around, get something to eat etc.. it's not over-commercialized.. which is good and bad depending on what you are looking for... It is strange to visit Santa in March.. but Rovaniemi is his 'home' so.. it's what you want to do and expect! The Snow mobile tour available at the park itself is great as they actually rent out 'mini snowmobiles' that kids can drive themselves .. both on a short safari through the nearby forest.. or just around the track. This is better than the young kids just riding on the sleigh pulled by a Snow Mobile Guide driver. The room / area where you go to visit Santa inside the Santa Claus Village hotel is a bit small / dark.. they could brighten / decorate it up to make the visit more special! Food options were good and plenty.. Staff everywhere was super... Cheers!

No matter how old you turn, you will still feel like a kid at this place. A Santa Fantasy world..! Interesting place. We stayed here for 3 nights in a traditional stlye though modern Cabin. Had a different experience altogether. We could also spot some Northern Lights from our Resort which was a nice experience.

Over commercialized and relatively tasteless although kids will enjoy it. You can get there on a public bus so no big expenses.

As I already was in Rovanimei, I visited the Santa Village.Well, I am no big fan of him, but nevertheless I had to visit him personally :) I gues for children it's even more funny and exciting, I also enjoyed it. You have to wait a little and then you can visit him personally and talk to him. There are many shops to buy something, so you won't miss any souvenir.

I have been to the village twice, once in winter and once in autumn. Definitely the high season of winter is very crowdy and you will have to wait a very long time in a queue to meet Santa. Also in the high season the picture or USB key with the picture you can pay for increase their price quite a lot to me.Nonetheless, the whole place has beautiful things to discover and the shops are full of nice gifts to buy. Moreover, most of the gifts in the village will often be the same price or sometimes cheaper than in Rovaniemi's city center! Which surprised me! So if you wish to buy some present take your time there ;)

The Santa Claus village is located about 8 km outside from Rovaniemi and has a lot of Souvenir Shops and Restaurants. There is also the Snowmen Park and the Main Post Office of Santa Claus, which is actually very nice to see. You can also visit Santa Claus and pay from 60 Euro to get the pictures. Santa is nice and speaks a lot of languages. Overall I think it's a nice place to see with a lot of useless stuff to buy.

The village is a collection of souvenir shops with only a few interesting aspects . The Santa Claus Post office was nice with all the letters from all over the world and the opportunity to send your Christmas cards already (they will be sent for Christmas ) . You can enjoy all the other activities that you can find in Rovaniemi too , and they have some good restaurants . It was a disappointement that there were 2 Santas to visit (one in his office , the other in the Arctic Centre) ~ one too many ! And you can't take a photo , they will ! For the right price off course . It's a place you should visit when you are in Rovaniemi , but not an extraordinary one . Enjoy .

Not to be recommended. The Santa Claus village seems highly commercial place with tourist shops. There are some opportunities for sleigh riding behind a reindeer and taking a photo with Santa Claus, but everything you do is expensive. Besides there is not much to do here anyways.

From Rovaniemi City Center, take Winter bus 8. The journey to Santa Claus Village is about 20minutes. My friends and I went during February. Even though Christmas was long over, Santa Claus Village just brings back the mood of Christmas. White snow and giant snowman can be seen. We went to take photo with Santa Claus. Although there was a queue, but it is worth the wait. Photos, as well as video (interaction with Santa Claus) can be bought. There were many people at the post office in Santa Claus village. The postcards are mainly design of aurora, santa claus, reindeer and Santa Claus village. There were other cute design of the postcards as well. We bought postcards and stamps, find an empty table to sit and began to write the postcards and send to send our friends. There are two post boxes: one to be sent during Christmas, another to be send "today". The staff told me that they are not able to customize the date to be sent. A certificate can be bought at the reception counter, indicating that you have crossed the Arctic Circle. It comes with 2 different designs. You can have "Santa Claus Village stamp" to be stamped on your passport with a price as well.

I figured I had to come here while in Rovaniemi, though a touristy Santa-themed place wasn't the most tempting to me (I was here for snowmobiling and ice hockey). I actually had a good time in the SC Village. Yes, it's touristy and commercial, but I think they actually did it very well; the surroundings are beautiful and it's a lovely scenic place to walk around. I only heard one area playing Christmas music, so that didn't drive me crazy either - but then it might be a bit more peaceful in February! I didn't do any chargable extras (Snowman World, Santa's House of Snowmobiles, etc), but still enjoyed a couple of hours walking round and of course meeting Santa, when I built up the courage. It was all adults in the queue so I felt less stupid! It was a nice experience, too, well done and Santa was really lovely to chat to; photos are way too pricy but meeting him is free and they have to make their money somehow. Some of the souvenir shops are a bit tacky but there were nice shops, too, with locally made produce and there's a Marttini outlet for gift knives. I'd recommend the place, though the buses are infrequent so do plan your journey in advance.

Fantastic. The kids loved the outside ice slide rides. The ice castle was great, still cold. Lots to see and do, lots of things for he kids, we had teenagers and they still enjoy it. Atmosphere was lovely, everyone was so happy.

We went to lapland on the 3 dec for 4 nights with Thomson. The fun started on the flight over, the cabin crew and pilots were really funny, they entertained us for the whole flight and really built up the excitement in all of us. Arrival, really easy, it was lovely landing and seeing all the snow, the airport is small and our bags arrived quickly, we were met by Thomson staff and the elves, they were all very friendly and the kids loved it, we were directed to our bus 'jingle bells' and introduced to our elf who was with us for the whole trip 'angel wings' We were taken to a warehouse about ten mins from the airport and given all our snow wear this was really quick and easy and then we were taken to our hotel where we had the rest of the day to ourselves, we went out and played in the snow. It was fab.The next day we were picked up and taken to a reindeer park where we had a go at the dog sleigh, reindeer ride and the skidos this was great fun, the food was provided and it was really nice a lovely hot meal of meatballs and potatoes etc. we then did loads of sledging which was fun, the next day was ours to do as we pleased, in the day we just played in the snow but at night we got a taxi to santas village as we'd been told it was the opening ceremony and free entry, this was fab, we went in the ice hotel and bar and there was big snow slides set up to go down in big rubber rings, it was a great day, the last day Thomson took us to santa park and santa village both were really good but we needed longer at Santa park as didn't get to go everything. Thankfully we went to the village the day before so got to do all that. Then that night we were taken to a gorgeous cabin in the woods for a lovely Christmas meal and to meet the man himself santa! The kids were beyond excited, the food was gorgeous, you had to pay for drinks!! Santa arrived with a flurry of fireworks and the kids loved meeting him. We were all really happy, BUT then the most amazing thing happened after 3 days of snow filled sky. It was the clearest night and the northern lights made an appearance, it topped off the whole trip, it was the most bueatiful experience and we were so lucky to see them. We all stood outside this lovely cabin in the freezing cold and watched In ore. This was a fantastic trip, and one I will remember forever, yes there were the odd annoying thing like having to pay for drinks when you'd already spent 1000s and not having enough time on the organised day etc, but the looks on my kids faces and the bueaty of the area and seeing the northern lights made that all very insignificant. Trip of a lifetime and we will visit the area again
