Love the shopping, lots of little trinkets for the kiddos when you visit here. People are always friendly in the country

The beauty of the Painted Monasteries is other worldly. If you make it to Romania, you have. To come to Bukovina for these monasteries.

Humor is not the most famous, nor the grandest, of the painted monasteries, but it was my favourite of the 5 I saw. The morning light was perfect to see the frescoes, the garden was in full bloom and there were no other tourists. The atmosphere was magical, and the beauty of both the interior and exterior decorations were enhanced by it.

The Monasteries around Guru Humorului are a major tourist attraction This is another fine example. Well worth a visit.

Founded in 1530, Humor (Hoo mor) is rather small, physically, but it looms large among Bucovina’s treasures with a variety of frescoes dating from 1535, including one illustrating the Return of the Prodigal Son and one with a “humorous” depiction of the devil as a woman. The church, topped by a cross-shaped shingled roof, is without a steeple, indicating that it was built by a court official rather than a prince. The predominant hues of the frescoes are reddish brown with some rich blues and green infusions. An extremely valuable collection of icons from the 16th century is displayed in the monastery.

One of the many beautiful painted monasteries in northern Romania. The classic monastery tour starts here at Humor, before continuing to Voronet, Moldovita & Sucevita. The frescos are similar at each site. Humor is predominantly a deep red colour. It doesn't have a steeple but beside it stands a huge watchtower. The steps up are incredibly narrow - elbow to fingertips width. There are great views of the surrounding countryside and the well maintained gardens around the monastery. You will spot nun's tending to the plants wherever you look. Entry is €1.50 and photography about €2. It can get expensive if you want to photograph all the monasteries. This has one of the best interiors. It was built in 1530 and has the oldest frescos in the region. There are four rooms inside, a huge chandelier as you enter, a small tomb chamber in the middle and a room full of valuable gilded icons at the rear.

As nice as any of the monasteries in the area and with the better gift shops nearby. Visit the traditional house and see her superb handiwork.

The grounds were immaculate and my wife found the romanian carpet she always wanted in one of the street side shop.

the monastery is small but well preserved with beautiful paintings;the access road is large and pleasant because there are only people from the village selling genuine products of good quality, not merchands selling kitch products from China

Humor Monastery is seeped in history. Information is available to explain when it was build, why it was built and who permitted it to be built.

The painted monasteries are a must see. Both the interior and exterior are beautiful and you should try to see all four of them. Definitely worth the trip.

though small, tiny in fact, I adored this monastery. It was the first one I visited and where I learned about the somewhat formal process of the decorative arts. Take some cash to purchase great souvenirs from the peasant markets outside

Although not as well preserved as Voronet, it is a great view and it's not as crowded. It was being rehabilitated on the inside and it was great to see the specialist in action. The pictures of the women selling blankets outside are very authentic.

Manastirea Gura Humorului is one of the "must see" when going to Bucovina. Even if her "sister", Manastirea Voronet, is more famous, Manastirea Gura Humorului is as beautiful as Voronet. Actually, the two resemble in many aspects, including the shape of the church and the paintings on the exterior walls. Inside the Monastery walls there is a beautiful garden, with many roses, very well kept by the nuns who live there. Also, there you can find an interesting old tower that was used in the past as observation spot against the enemies. There is a small fee to visit the place (about 1 euro) and you can also buy several souvenirs from the small shop kept by the nuns.
