You wander through the ancient streets of Bayeux, turn a corner and there it is - a complex combination of towers, buttresses, glass and stone. Stunning. Didn't have time to go inside but will on next trip to this lovely city.

My husband and I visited Normandy after being in crowded Paris for nearly a week. The first thing he said upon entering the cathedral in Bayeux was that it was so refreshing to be away from the crowds and be able to see the beautiful church in peaceful silence. Even though Bayeux might not be as famous as Paris, the church is extremely lovely, especially the stained glass which reflects on the stone pillars when the sunlight hits it just right. It was also unique to see the poppy memorials celebrating the 70th anniversary of D-Day. We were lucky enough to visit around Christmastime and loved the beautiful lighted creche on display.

A beautiful cathedral that compliments what is perhaps Normandy's most beautiful town. Located fittingly in the heart of the town.

Walked here after visiting the Bayeux Tapestry. I am not religious but enjoyed visiting here for the experience. The stained glass windows were particularly impressive.

I tend to be a lover of cathderals and try to visit all the great ones whenever I travel to Europe. Bayeux's is truly one of the most beautiful I have ever experienced. Perhaps because Bayeux is a relatively small town and the cathedral is not surrounded by bustling city streets, it is really the only time I visited a cathedral and enjoying the view from outside one could almost imagine the scene as it might have been like hundreds of years before. A must see in Normandy.

This is an amazing and beautiful building. Just from the outside it is stunning, and there are many such buildings in France, but this is one of the best. You find yourself wondering how did they do it, especially back in the day.

Not a religious person at all but the splendour of this building inside and out is worth seeing. I marvel at the how the builders managed to create such a building so many years ago and feel it has been lucky to survive wars and the elements. It is splendid at night, well lit and an icon for the town.As a 'free' attraction it is worth spending time visiting.

That such an incredible cathedral exists in such a small town is incredible (though fairly typical in France) and it's a bit awe-inspiring.

The organist was practicing his music while we were there which might have made it seem even better. BUT just looking at it from the outside, then going in and touring the inside...it was quite lovely.

We found this cathedral quite beautiful and loved the notices all around informing of it's history. I particularly enjoyed the stained glass windows.

after seeing so many others it isn't any better but see it if you have time- as mentioned in Tapestry review the Hote Churchill s between the two and you can do both in an afternoon.

Beautiful piece of architecture and church still in use. Impeccable inside and out, day or night. Really the central attraction of this beautiful little town.

We got a private tour by accident from a local lady who took us to see old relics in a back upstairs room that was from 300AD. Crazy amazing and interesting.

Cathedrale Notre Dame de Bayeux is a jewel of the little town. The Cathedral dates back to 11th century, was rebuilt several times after damaging fires, and luckily did not suffer too much from the allied forces bombing in 1944. The beautiful towers of the old church dominate the town: you can see them the minute you arrive and park (we did not had have too much trouble with parking, but we were traveling in May; it could be worse during the high season). The exterior is amazing: do not miss the Last Judgment portal. The magnificent interior matches the solemn beauty of the exterior with its stunning nave, stain glassed windows, beautiful organ and the altar.Unfortunately, we did not have time to climb the steps for the tower tour, but I am sure it is worth doing.
