The Starfish and Coffee is a wonderfully inviting place. The atmosphere is extremely welcoming and relaxed, the drinks are great - clearly they've been thoughtfully chosen - they even had English ale when I was there (Black Sheep!).The landlord/barman, Matt, is a great fellow; very accommodating, and makes you feel as though you were family. They show the football on TV here and have free wifi. I strongly recommend popping in for a drink, or ten!

Stopped in at this bar after reading the great reviews on here, can see why, the batman is very friendly and makes everyone feel welcome, we stopped in again after we had eaten and found ourselves in the middle of happy hour where you have to roll a dice against the batman is you roll higher the drinks are free, I Won, no catch, that round was free, big screens with Sport playing, would definitely recommend stopping in if your in the area

Excellent bar to have a few beers after walking around the town. The barman Matt is a really nice guy. My son loved playing on the darts machine! Sports, music, beer and free Wifi.... can a bar be any better? Not on my travels!

Highly recommended, friendly staff, nice surroundings, free wifi. Watched World Cup games there, nice friendly atmosphere. Live music on one if the nights, good singer who sang both Engilish and French ones. Try it you won't be disappointed.

The best bar in town with the best host. The variety of drinks served are superfluous and the host seems to engage with all clientele from babies to retired, from Scandinavians to Spaniards. I even had one cocktail that was served with an upside down bottle of orangina in it which tasted fantastic.Visited La Tranche numerous times and this is the 1st place I go and the place I leave from!

After travelling around this planet for many years I came across this place and found who I think to me in my opinion is the best barman in the world in a fantastic comfortable welcoming bar. On a Wednesday I asked if the F1 would be on the following Sunday I was told if I was there it would be on. So on a windy raining Sunday afternoon Matt the owner who is English but also French ran across the street to open up for me his only customer at that time and put the big screens on for me and then set up his bar. His service and hospitality is second to none and every time I have been here he has been so welcoming and its if it is my local. His beer is first class and his hot chocolate is to die for. If you pass through La Trance Sur Mer give it a go. Also it is only 20 seconds walk from the main shopping street where this is quite a good market on Saturday mornings. This place gets a big thumbs up from me. Also if your up for wine try the Arrogant Frog cab sav a lovely drop.

Very easy to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, everyone is made comfortable by the barman who is very good at letting you know about the local area. Shows all the televised sports, plays good background music, has good WIFI and is hard to think of how it could be improved.

A cosy French bar with food.Internet access and welcoming to children.Attentive service and good wine.A short stroll up from the beach and has seating inside and outside on a little patio.Kids loved the hot chocolate with marshmallows and crepes with chocolate while watch football on the TV.There are different areas to sit so you can enjoy the TV or not as you like.

A perfect balance of English and French, Bar Starfish has a great range of drinks both on tap and bottled. A great range of non-alcoholic drinks too. Decor and seating is immedietly welcoming and comfortable and the staff will happily chat in both French and English. The crêpes must be tried if you visit during the day. I didn't know you could make a square crêpe! The home made caramel sauce is beyond amazing. A must visit.

This is really the best, nicest and most well kept bar in La Tranch Sur Mer. Bar staff speak both French and English and are very friendly and welcoming, Matt in particular makes the experience a fun and well looked after one. Great array of drinks and even pancakes with homemade caramel sauce if that tickles your fancy! The bar is always spotless and its location is lovely as you can sit right in the front window and watch the world go by! I could sit from mid afternoon with an iced coffee until the early hours trying out the cocktails and not get bored, there was also a night of live music when we went that was a fantastic end to our fabulous visit!

Great atmosphere and a huge selection of drinks. We possibly drank our way through the whole cocktail menu - the Starfish and l'Alchimiste are definitely recommended! Matt is very welcoming and always up for a laugh. Don't visit La Tranche without popping in!

Matt attracts an eclectic mixture of visitors - both English-speaking and French. There's always a great atmosphere (often with sporting events on too) and an excellent choice of beer and wine. A bar that is as popular with locals as it is with tourists is hard to find but Starfish achieves this! Highly recommended.

Matt really makes this bar a friendly and fun place to spend an evening or afternoon. Reasonable prices and very nice crêpes. Service is impeccable and this bar is definitely worth a visit. Matt works very hard and it shows, this bar is something to be proud of and he welcomes everyone like an old friend. The only problem I have is that he insists on putting the baby tv channel on!! ;)
