Although bit hiden, it is a must see place in Tours. Gothic building is very large but the windows' mosaics give the place light and fresh look both from inside and outside. And it's neither overcrowded nor full of meddling tourist guides. Nice place for contemplations.

If in Tours you have to see this cathedrale! It is breathtaking and grand and the tiniest detail is almost hard to believe.Inside the stained glass is so beautiful even on a cloudy day (in winter) so I cant even imagine how much better it would look with the sun streaming in on a warm day!If in Tours please make sure you visit, you will not be disappointed.

The St. Gatien Cathedral has to be one of the nicest Gothic Cathedral in the world ! It is in a remarkable shape and the vitraux (stained glass) are superb . What is also interesting is to compare its architecture with the Basilica Saint-Martin nearby ; it permits to appreciate both types of architecture and their differences . If the opportunity arises to visit the cloisters , grab it !

This is a must-see for any stop in Tours. This is one of the most stunning Gothic cathedrals in Europe. The stained-glass windows are from the 13th century and recommended to bring binoculars to view them.

Classic of its type, beautifully lit in the evening. Worth checking out the gargoyles way up high. Cool running track design around the back of the altar. It's at the end of rue Colbert which is a great road for restaurants too.

Cathedrals......wherever we go in the world huge religious Churches, Mosques, Synagogues, Abbeys, Temples and Cathedrals exist.Tourists find them, churchgoers use them....whatever one's faith - Tours Cathedral will inspire you especially so if you only take in the wonderful stained glass. We've seen much stained glass in our lives, but Tours equals the very best. Well worth spending at least a reflective hour within. Its outside architecture won'tdisappoint you either

Stunning cathedral in Tours. No entrance fee, but there is a 3 euro charge to enter the cloisters. Amazing building with beautiful stain glass windows. A short walk from the centre of town.

Blown away by this cathedral! I was lucky enough to a hear an organ rehearsal while visiting the cathedral which enhanced the experience hugely. It's truly stunning and overwhelming, I really enjoyed taking my time to stroll around the cathedral, taking in all the tiny details of the sculptures and stain glass windows. I will most definitely be returning, a real gem in this beautiful city.

This Cathedral was especially beautiful. We had been overwhelmed by St. Chapelle in Paris a few days before. This is on a smaller scale, but the windows are equally beautiful and more accessible. Peaceful and elegant.

When we visited there was a service in progress, but still able to walk in. It was probably more interesting seeing it 'in use' with a service being held. Well worth a visit.

As in Chartres the windows are very well and give to the visitors peace and ligth.. The Towers are close the front of this building made in gotico-fiammeggiante

Stunning stained glass and very atmospheric - see in the morning when the sun streams through the windows - magic!

What a thrill to see all the 13th century glass since we just do not have anything like this in the UK. Lots to see, so very impressive and part of a lovely city

A good example of gothic architecture, very bright and lighted by magnificent vitraux. It should not be missed.
