Words cannot describe what you will see here. Trip Advisor is forcing me to write at least 50 characters but I have truly nothing to say.

We just happened upon the American Cemetery and consider it traveller's luck to have visited. The cemetery is truly beautiful, immaculately maintained and a moving testament to those who died for a noble cause so far from home. While we all enjoy the French-American rivalry, as an American it truly was a life memory to see that kind of appreciation on display.

Entering through the gates to this US World War 1 Cemetery we were overwhelmed by the number of white crosses (and star of david's). And then we noticed that beyond the crosses we were looking at were at least that many again. In total just over 6000! Then we noted that all the dates we looked at (of the dates of falling) were all in about a week of each other at the end of July / start of August 1918. 6000 in a week, and that's just the US losses. The grounds are immaculate showing so much respect almost 100 years on. The Stars and Stripes in the very centre and a stone memorial at the rear of the cemetery with a small chapel behind wooden doors to either side. Adults and teenage daughter were all extremely moved by our visit. If in the area I cannot recommend a place to visit and to contemplate more highly. If you have kids old enough my daughter is an example of how such a site can bring home the magnitude of the history this place is remembering.

Just to stand in the gate and look up through hundreds of white crosses is humbling. The small side chapels to the side of the main memorial for those who died but are still missing is really moving.

Beautiful grounds, overwhelming number of crosses. We were humbled to be there on the centennial of the beginning of WW I, and felt obliged to visit all these young men who gave their lives for our benefit.

Very moving, and fitting resting place for over 6,000 American servicemen who died near here. The walk to the hilltop through the rows of immaculately kept graves can not fail to move all who visit.

We first visited this beautiful cemetery in 2011 to find the grave of my grandmother's cousin. We were so impressed with the way it is maintained - a fitting tribute to the WW1 American soldiers who rest here. This May we returned for the Memorial Day which was a well organised and moving ceremony; we were cordially welcomed by the staff and found everyone so friendly. My ancestor was born in England but emigrated to the States with his family in 1907 at the age of 7. He joined the US Army in 1918 and died 6th April 1918. I have recently discovered that his mother was able to visit his grave in 1930 as an American Gold Star Mother. The tranquility of this cemetery situated in the peace of the countryside is well worth a visit. "We will remember them."

Visited on a chilly April day and found it maintained to the high standard we would expect. Please do visit and there are toilets which is very handy as well. Martin

It was a torrential downpour when I was there, high winds and cold but still worth seeing. Sad to see how many headstones are marked as unknown. The cemetery is out away from town, just a nice quick little drive through the french countryside. So glad I went.

We were four Australians on our way to the Champagne district and when we stumbled upon this American Cemetery from the Great War. What a find! We had intentions of visiting The Somme Battlefields but had not planned to visit any in the this region. This cemetery is so well kept and is a tribute to the American People who maintain it. The many dead, (over 6,000) who rest in this very peaceful place would be proud of the way their memory is is put on display. We ventured into the memorial centre and spoke with the people who run it. It was such an informative session and we stayed much longer than we would ever have dreamt, but it was all worth it.

The cemetery is only a few miles from Chateau-Thierry. It is the final resting place for more than 6000 World War I servicemen who lost their lives here. Although the cemetery closes officially at 5 PM, it is open 24 hours a day, if you enter by foot. It is such a quiet, peaceful site, atop a hill surrounded by rolling farmlands. The cemetery is lovely. We located Joyce Kilmer's grave. In the same row, we found another person from our own state, as well as the grave of an unknown soldier. The area is so well-cared for. The grass is manicured so that it looks like the green on a golf course. There are roses in bloom everywhere. But, there are no dead branches or leaves anywhere. The alter is at the top of the cemetery. From it, you can see the entire site, as well as the surrounding area. The staff is caring and friendly. The visitor center is well-maintained with useful information to take with you, as well as bathroom facilities.

The men and women in this cemetery have been buried 95 years, and people don't remember what they did here. They came here to help end "the war to end all wars" and here they remain. It's not Normandy or Arlington, but it is a small piece of American soil in the French countryside which should be visited so as to see the sacrifice made by these brave souls.

If you are in the area, please do take the time to come visit the Oise-Aisne American Cemetery and Memorial. Free guided tours are available in English and French from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. 7 days a week. This WWI cemetery is located about 30 minutes from the Chateau Thierry Monument which is less than 10 km from Aisne-Marne American Cemetery and Memorial at Belleau Wood and the village of Belleau where you will find the Devil Dog fountain. Also nearby to Oise-Aisne American Cemetery is the village of Fere-en-Tardenois with its amazing Chateau ruins.

The Oise-Aisne American Cemetery and Memorial in France contains the remains of 6,012 American war dead, most of whom lost their lives while fighting in this vicinity in 1918 during World War I. As with all American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC) areas it is beautiful, dignified and gives great solice to those families who's Brothers, Son, Husbands never came home.

A wonderful tribute to the memory of about 6,000 Doughboys buried here. We were proud to sign the guest registry. We spoke with the American caretaker and we were appalled to learn that only about 1,000 Americans visit this cemetery annually. It's only, perhaps, 80 miles from Paris and worth a visit to honor those WWI soldiers.
