lagodekhi national reserve

Excellent hike. Not very demanding,but with a nice reward at the end. Did not hike to the Large waterfall,but the small is well worth visiting. The only issue was the marking of the trail in certain parts,so keep an eye for trail signs. Regarding accommodation in Lagodekhi: if you're on a budget trip,head to Nina Sulashvilis house (David agmashenebeli street 107),learn a bit of russian and enjoy homemade Khinkalis and loads of wine. Guess that could be applied to many of people living there,but my experience at Ninas house was one of the best in my life.

We did the trip from the visitor center to the waterfall.The path was nice, very quiet. The last 20% of the trail is more difficult. Don't go with too small childrens. 5km to go and 5 back. Roundtrip in 4 hours.

Na de benodigde documenten te hebben gehaald zijn wij met een 4 x 4 het park in gereden. Het park zelf is prachtig. De kleuren, de natuur en de ongereptheid. De aanwijzingen over richtingen, wegen, hoe je er komt etcetera zijn dramatisch slecht. We zijn dan ook meerdere malen verdwaald. Aangezien je nergens wat kunt kopen is het verstandig brandstof en eten en drinken mee te nemen. Maar het was het waard. Een park met potentie.
