This castle is one of the most beautiful castles I have ever visited and the view from the top is really spectacular. Loved it even though I have visited maybe 10times, it is still worth a visit

We visited this castle in december and it was quite cold up there. Castle is huge and various, many movies were filmed there. E.g. Nosferatu wampire. Enjoy it!

A lot of climbing up hill, even before entering the gate. But do climb all the stairs to the top, it's worth the effort.

Orava Castle is one of the most beautiful medieval castles in Slovakia. It's a large building complex and almost all rooms are accessible, so the tour (unfortunately in Slovak) takes several hours. At the castle the outside scenes for the unofficial Dracula film "Nosferatu" from 1922 were filmed.

we stopped at the Orava castle on our drive from southern poland to budapest. what a great little gem to stop and see. mandatory that you take a tour, which went at a pretty good pace. the views from the stop are gorgeous and not too bad for someone who is afraid of heights! we tried the restaurant on the grounds and it was very delicious and felt authentic. worth a stop.

We visited Podzamok for the day and this castle was our first stop. As the only English-speakers on the tour, we pretty much followed behind everyone else and looked at stuff in our own time. I loved the weapons, gallows and torture chamber, and the views from the top of the castle were amazing.

Very good tour guide who was very friendly and knowledgeable. The castle itself is fascinating and has a lot of history. Would definitely recommend. Additionally, try the local beer at the bottom of the climb to the castle!

The is in the middle of the village and is no longer a private residence. Very picturesque. Be prepared for lots of steps - but a great site to visit.

Very impressive castle. Mainly the building and the climbs and view. The exhibits are not that impressive.Pity the guide did not speak a word of English or German - we could enjoy it more.

I can't add much more to what the other reviewers have said: Orava castle is dramatically stunning and surrounded by some of the most beautiful countryside Slovakia has to offer. We had two hours there and could easily have spent more. Just beware: you will need good, flat shoes due to the elevation of the castle and it's aforementioned many stairs, and if none in your group understand Slovak it would be a good idea to pay extra for the English tour. But all in all, an unforgettable trip.

This is a well preserved castle that was worth the stop. Ask for the private tour, as the standard tour is in Slovak. Be prepared for many, many steps, over 500 as I recall. The views are amazing as is the local history of the region.

This was a really snagging visit. The guide, who spoke English all the time, was very knowledgeable and explained all the exhibits during the 90-minute tour. The Castle is really huge and enjoys fantastic views of the area.

Very close to Krakow and a great place to visit. We were so happy to have heard about this. Glad we were able to get this in. Not on many peoples radar but don't miss it.

nice and very high castle with amazing view over the Orava, lot of stairs-more than 600, not for old people or small child, order entrance ticket from web, special at summer weekend because there is a lot of visitors, fee for parking and foto

My wife and I recently visited Slovakia in and in particular the Orava region of the country. We visited the castle in Oravsky Podsamok. Our tour guide (Adriana) was both knowledgeable and polite. We would recommend both the the country and the castleMr and Mrs Turner
