This castle has a fantastic history wich is told on tours in many languages. Authentically restored and very beautiful. Prices very reasonable and well worth it. Plus there are many attractions nearby with great hiking adventures.

For the nature lovers. Sandstone rock formations are unusual and unique, the views are beautiful. It is a paradise for rock climbers or just people out for a nice long walk. The trails are well marked and when we were there, it was not overrun by tourists. Just one of many possibilities for a day trip out of Prague. Bohemian Paradise (Cesky Raj) is definitely worth a visit.

The castle isn't so famous, but it's a good place to visit. Pity you can't walk inside without joining a group. The torture museum is impressive! The surroundings are beautiful, you can have a long pleasant walk in the nearby forest. If you aren't a nature lover, you can have a nice beer in the pub just next to the castle :).

Bohemian ParadisePrachov RocksThe most popular sandstone rocks town in the Bohemian Paradise is situated near 60 km from Prague (Czech Republic). With wife were here in April 2012 - this is the beginning of the season in the city of rocks.Recommended for those who like to walk, climb and not a fear of heights and narrow gorges.Heavily segmented plateau was created of sandstones sediments and arenaceous marls during the Mesozoic era.Visitors can enter to the Prachov rocks (Prachovské Skály) area from April to October. It is a real paradise for rock climbers and tourists. Detailed hiking maps are available at the entrance to the rocks, but there are also thorough information boards and signposts at regular intervals along the trails.Tourists are attracted to this area mainly by the dense network of marked tourist trails with frequent viewpoints which reveals the interior of rock city. Here we spent about 3 hours, but you can spend the whole day.Near the main entrance there are several cafes where you can eat and quench your thirst. Also there are pay toilets, which are also popular. The uniqueness of the Prachovske skaly is in the diversity of the terrain with large number of sandstone blocks and needles, ravines and glens. The geological history of the Prachovské Skály area is rather varicoloured – the beginnings of the sandstone formations date back to the Mesozoic era, when the whole territory was flooded with sea water ...

Another beautiful castle with lots of history. Many of the poor people who worked in the castle lived in caves in the nearby hills, on the other side of the river. We went and investigated this area and enjoyed the walk.

Worth a visit, looks very medieval:) Unfortunately, you can't walk inside its yard without the tour which lasts 1.5h or so. So if you're not a fan of the tours, just sit in a restaurant next to the castle and try their special beer:)

Visit of the castle was fine. After seing the castle, we enjoyed the walk through Plakanek valley ( Udoli Plakanek) and did some geocaching.Interesting shape of the tower = none of 4 angles is in 90 degrees- as the protection against canonballs´ hits ...

Don´t miss the opportunity to visit this castle, the place, where the fairytales have often been filmed. I think, one of the largest castles in the Czech republic, you can see there old pictures, guns. We liked old kitchen and very nice cellars there.

The castle is beautiful and well worth seeing. I did not arrange for the tour, so I am not clear if English language tours are available, but we ended up on a Czech tour. We had English language sheets, but it is a LONG tour, and there is a lot of standing around if you don't understand what you are listening to.

Very excited to walk around my first Czech Castle.Set in beautiful surroundings and countryside. You can only walk around the castle with an excursion and guide. We were the only couple on the tour my husband speaks Czech but I dont, The guide didnt even introduce himself or Welcome us to the tour which I found unprofessional, i found his body language disengaging and not bothered. My husband assured me that he had good knowledge so I guess I will just have to trust him on that one! I was thrusted a photocopied English Guide in a cheap plastic folder (which you have to give back) and had to guess what I was looking at as the guide doesnt let you know which section you are in which I found really irritating unless you are Czech! So I guess the tour is great if you are Czech or speak Czech and very poor if you dont.

The castle is very impressive, but you can walk around it only with excursion. There are 3 kinds of excursions, we chose the one with torture chambers. All the excursions are in Czech. We don't understand Czech, and we got some papers with information in English. It didn't help a lot. We were really interested in all the torture chamber stuff, and we had to read about this later on the internet. The excursion doesn't walk around the whole castle, and I think there much more things to see.
