It's not just the inside and outside of the church that looks totally beautiful but the grounds are amazing too. Lovely perimeter wall around the grounds with mind blowing statues. Best Catholic church I've ever been in. Latvians/Russians make truly wonderful churches.

I was at Aglona Basilica for the feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. At the time there were many pilgrims as this is the height of the pilgrimage season. The Aglona Basilica of the Assumption is the spiritual "heart" of Latvia. This beautiful town and basilica are worth a look even if you have no spiritual inclinations at all. The art and architecture by themselves are incredible and if you are the spiritual type it should have added appeal.

Beautiful place in this area. It is possible to go inside and see altar very close. In the basilica territory is holy water fountain were it is possible to drink cold water.

Чувствуется святое место. В обычные дни здесь практически ни кого нет. Тишина и умиротворение просто неописуемые. Красивая величественная архитектура.

Место удивительное и храм впечатляющий. Это, конечно, главная католическая святыня Латвии, к которой 15 августа в День вознесения Девы Марии каждый год идут со всех сторон паломники. И тогда здесь просто бешенная энергетика. Но и в простой день в Аглоне благостно, покойно и хорошо. Синяя гладь озера, зелень просторов вокруг, журчание родника... А сам храм парит в небе белоснежной птицей - строгой и нежной. Внутри же - роскошное рококо, потрясающий алтарь, старинный орган и, говорят, чудотворная икона. Базилику освятил в 1993 году папа римский Иоанн Павел II. Открыто до 19.00.

В описаниях указано, что Аглонская католическая базилика – один из самых впечатляющих храмов во всей Прибалтике. На самом же деле речь идет видимо о Латвии. Это действительно наиболее значительный католический духовный центр Латвии и святыня мирового масштаба, куда ежегодно в День вознесения Девы Марии 15 августа приходят сотни тысяч паломников со всей Восточной Европы. Место очень красивое.

Il posto richiede al visitatore un momento di attenzione e di riflessione. Sono stato colpito a prima vista dalla maestosità' della chiesa, semplice nello stile architettonico. Al suo interno possiamo notare la semplicità tipica di questo popolo. Il credente in questo posto ha tutto il tempo per riflettere sull' essenza della vita.

Странно, но на карте я вижу, что Аглонская базилика расположена в Даугавпилсе :-) На самом же деле величественный белый храм меж двух озёр впечатляет всех без исключения. И обязательно надо испить святой воды из родника на территории базилики.

bella basilica.purtroppo era chiusa credo per restauri.per fortuna è rimasto un luogo di visita e non è assolutamente come Lourdes ed altri un grande business di souvenirs ed hotels. La basilica è l'unica grossa costruzione esistente. intorno un piccolo villaggio con case modeste. No hotels!! così deve essere la fede!!
