A very good collection of paintings and other religious artifacts of the history of the local church. We hired the audio guide which we would recommend as there is little explanation in English otherwise. If you hire the audio guide you will be accompanied by a staff member who will collect the audio guide at the end of your walk thorough the museum ( at least during winter/spring)

I live few hundred meters away.live in this town since many years and i had no idea of what unknown treaure i had round the corner.the building in itsself is fantastic, had very skilled renovation works...pure beauty. There is a great collection of works, painting, statues, objects saved in many war bombed and destroyed church.we had a guided tour today run by the director and the responsable of the renovation,Lina bellanca.i was touched by the passion, the love and the competence they put in their work.....we were a big group, not expecting more than a stiff, cultural experience.everybody was impressed by the passion andglobal culture of the director, that was our special guide.he told us that there are volunteering guides, every day,art students and young restaurer.i think it is very important to have a guide,to focus on the many historical and artistic levels.they are also preparing a laboratory for children....the level under the street, visible through glas, contains some archeological structures....we came home with the eyes full of beauty and the heart full of gratitude for the intelligence, the devotion, the incredible effort of people working there ,to give an unique experience to the visitors.it is just in front of the cathedral....absolutly not to miss

By the Cathedral of Palermo we must visit the Museo Diocesano that portrays life in Palermo territory and Siciy since Norman conquest and Svabian presence. Artfacts show us the bizantin and medioeval period with many sculptures od Antonello Gagini the very famous artist in Sicily during the 15th century. Very interesting works from the manierism to the Caravaggio school and some pieces of high painting art of Pietro Novelli.

It's one of those places that you can often come across in Italy where you find that you have left the crowds behind and almost have the place to yourself. They have a lovely collection of religious paintings and artifacts from 11th to the 18th century. It provided us with a very relaxed afternoon, apart from one slight problem. I got stick in the ladies, I could not turn the key in the lock to unlock the door. I managed to escape by passing the key under the door, it only just went under, be warned.

...the building itself provides a great setting for these artifacts. It flows from space to space and is a blend of modern and old providing a handsome backdrop that makes the viewing a real joy! It’s more of a gallery than a museum although the other relics support and balance the overall display. I think it was 3 euro’s to get in and we had the whole place to ourselves which was unbelievable - if this was displayed in the UK I think it would be a sell out. Althought there were some people completing resoration work in a seperate area. This exhibition of religious paintings and sacred images ranged from the 12th century to the 18th and was a brilliant way to spend a morning.
