i was told it is the best on the Sicilly coast, the beaches and old town is really tipicall and atractive, but personally i prefer Agrigento on the south coast... try it :)we were there in April 2004 actually

By day the beach is filled with bright umbrellas! There are ones you can rent, plus a public beach were you can bring your own!! Many places on the beach that serve food and drinks. Showers available ( small fee), bathrooms available. Music is playing from each eatery, and dancing around the sand is enjoyable. You can go from high end places to every day places- depending on your taste and budget.Away from the beach are lovely shops, eateries, cafe stands.Nite time takes on a life of its own, with the Disco,Malik being the most popular with the young crowd. There is a 20e cover charge which includes a cute bracelet and your first drink. Bands, dancing, flashing strobe lights all along the beach add to the great fun time at this club.

We landed in Palermo but decided to skip the city and head straight to Cefalu, as we don't enjoy the hustle of big tourist cities. It was the perfect choice: beautiful town, plenty to see in the 3 days we were there: the beach, the marina, the town itself, The Rock. It was the perfect introduction to Sicily.

About 45 minutes out of Palermo on the train (5-8 euros each way) - this lovely seaside town is a great day trip. The beach is beautiful and the streets and old part of town very charming. Worth a visit.

The beaches here were really clean and one could also find basic utilities such as toilets and passage ways to go to many of these beaches.

The ride along the Tyrrhenian Sea on the way to the town of Cefalu offers some really beautiful sights. The blues of the sea contrast with the rocky coast and bright flowers. Being only an hour out of Palermo, Cefalu is a great place to spend the day away from the big city. The 12th century Norman cathedral dominates the town, There is a beach and some good shopping opportunities.

A large expanse of beach in Cefalu. Less than a hour east of Palermo is another world, away from the city congestion, pollution, noise, and poverty.

this is our favourite place in Sicily so far. pretty streets, churches and piazza's. We took the train from Palermo and its an easy 50min journey...dont catch the slow one.We didnt do the Rock climb due to time, but we walked the rock path by the sea and it was simply lovely

Even though it was winter, the day was sunny enough for a nice walk along the beach and to explore the rocky coast of Cefalu. There weren't alot of people around due to the cold temperatures so we had time to just sit about the rocks and to enjoy the waves and sea scape.

We took a day trip (an easy train ride) from Palermo to get a break from the overwhelming city for a day, and Cefalu had come highly recommended by some family who have spent a lot of time in Sicily. We loved it - we enjoyed walking the streets, visiting the cathedral, and eventually came to the bastions on the coastline, and went to the beach. We enjoyed an afternoon picnic and swim in the Mediterranean. I don't typically seek out swimming or beaches, but it was perfect - blue/turquoise water nestled amongst the forested mountains and a very beautiful village. On the other side of the stone wall were some very nice views of the rocky shore. My kids also had a great time wading in the water. It was a wonderful, relaxing day.

We spent a lovely afternoon in Cefalù. After visiting the glorious Cathedral beautifully situated in the Piazza under the looming Rocca, we couldn’t resist climbing the latter. As we ascended the panoramas over the town, coastline and sea became ever more spectacular. There were fine views of the geometrically shaped marinas with the scenic peninsular to the right.Back at base camp we headed straight to the wonderful beach for a most refreshing swim. It is an attractive location with the setting sunlight highlighting the buildings and Rocca.

The water was perfect, and there were many fish to look at when snorkelling. The sea was also very warm.

Cefalu is just a delightful place to visit, and the beach and shoreline complements and compliments the environment. When we were there, a kite festival was taking place on the beach. We have never seen such impressive kites, and what a setting!. Obviously Cefalu wants to show off its assets, and the beach and shoreline are some of the best; just terrific.

After coming back from Sicily, I am so pleased I made right decision to stay in Cefalu for few days rather than Palermo. Dont be wrong, lots people like the capital, but just I prefer little Italian towns and Cefalu is one of them. Touristy only means well developed for travellers which in Sicily is great thing. Easy to find top range restaurants with good prices. Lots of little narrow lanes to find Sicilian special made food and gifts. Long walking down to the beach you can enjoy great sunsets and the town turns in orange colour. I believe lots of British going there to enjoy sunny days and good food!I stayed quite near the back of La Rocca, which was ideal to go slow rather than many steps from town. Even it was quite difficult for me, it worth very bit of efforts to go to the top! The town looked even prettier in distance and high up! Must visit!Overall, enjoyed every bits in Cefalu, I will go there again for sure!
