The Museo delle Antichità Egizie is the only museum other than the Cairo...

though this place has nothing to do with Italian history, but it is one of the few places where you can see very rare ancient documents in the world

This museum was under renovation when we were there. But they adjusted the tarrifs accordingly. But if the was a tape of what was to come wow. We would definitely go back.

Unfortunately this amazing museum is undergoing renovations, but they had many of their key exhibits still on display in a building across the street when I went in September 2014. A stunning collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts, from statues to scrolls to grave goods to mummies. Get the audio guide; it's worth it here. Anyone with a passing interest in ancient Egypt should love this museum, but best to wait until the renovations are complete.

The museum is being renovated. Only the ground floor with the statues is open. They make a magnificent sight in the subdued lighting and walls with mirrors. I just wish that we had come here before the other exhibits were closed.

It is fascinating to read about the fight to strip Egypt of it historical treasures. All the different nationalities fighting to steal the Egyptian, "Elgin Marbles." To read how Drovetti managed to convince the Egyptian Viceroy to let him ship out his 3 collections, I guess he must have liked him!Having popped into the Cairo Egyptian Museum a couple of times, and a number of the smaller ones in various places - like Berlin - I was still 'blown away' with Turin's. It looks like they were lucky enough to secure many of the best largest statues. Just how did a civilization 2-3 thousand years ago carve such masterpieces? Wipi. informs us that this is the oldest Egyptian Museum. Opened in 1824, there are about six and a half thousand exhibits on display and 26,000 in the various store rooms out back. Really glad I 'dropped by'. Brian, from Perth. Western Australia.

no long line on december 26fair price. great things to see but some work in progress. everything is well explained. recommended.the mummies room must be seen

Supposedly this museum is incredible, but there is a lot of renovation going on at the moment and there are really only 2-3 big rooms available to look through. The things on-display are cool, but you can only see a handful of them before everything becomes indistinguishable. If you're torn between this and, say, the Cinema Museum, go to the Cinema Museum instead.

Unfortunately, due to works in progress, not many rooms were open for viewing. Recommend checking their website before going. Works should be completed mid 2015.

it was as if we were in Egypt. Mummies and monuments and small Egyptian figures and all documented. These were all brought from Egypt years ago, and kept in very good state.

One of the best collections of Egyptian artifacts that I have seen to date! And only 5Euros!! The museum is undergoing a renovation. Should be complete April 2015 - I imagine it will be spectacular!

The Egyptian Museum in Turin is really an experience. The level of pieces and their conservation state is excellent, the new arrangement makes it a very pleasant visit, and there are a lot of well done explanations in both Italian and English for most pieces as well as several introductory notes. They did really an amazing job renovating the museum, also the gallery with statues in the end is amazing. The audioguide is very well done although it offeres few extra info with respect to the written panels. It took us 3 hours to see the museum.

I was all shocked by just walking in this museum. If you are fan of archeology, this might be top 50 museum you should go. The museum is just breathtaking, and I guess it should be advertised more!
