The chiseled and cast bronze doors are not to be missed! It's a highly decorated cathedral of immense proportions but not intimidating at all.

This church is special because of the church underneath it. The church below is beautiful, simple, tranquil…almost like being in a cave, but with beautiful medieval paintings. Wow.

Come for the fantastic wooden ceiling and the beautiful paintings. San Fermo is included with the Verona Card or the 4-church pass. The church is in the historic city center and right along the river, so it's very easy to find.

San Fermo is another interesting church, with its inside walls covered with frescoes. It is part of the global ticket of 4 churches of Verona which deserve a visit.

So much history, going back to early Christian martyrs, with effectively three churches on top of each other tracing the development of Christianity through art and architecture over two millennia. Not to be missed!

This unassuming church in a very busy intersection has a many-layers history. In the basement there are Perspex sections revealing remains of a pre-Christian era church. Then the arches of the basement are slightly more modern. The interior of the church is approximately 16th Century. Some of the tombs are interesting an on the external walls you can see remnants of different eras. It is possible to buy a combination ticket which gives you discounted admission to about four or five of the larger churches in Verona, including San Zeno and Sant'Anastasia as well as San Femo.

On the corner of a busy bridge junction this church offered a moment of peace and quiet. The wooden ceiling was quite stunning.

Composed by 2 churches, one on top of the most ancient one, has a roe of columns right in the center of the main navy. Intersting frescos, remarkably restored.

This is the only church we've seen (though there are probably many like this in Italy) where we could visit the intact lower church situated immediately below the newer one. The lower church was begun in ancient times and has a striking simplicity which is beautiful. It has a very quiet and comforting ambience. Above it, the Basilica is much larger and grander with some beautiful frescoes and a remarkable 'ship's keel' wooden ceiling. This is one of the most interesting churches we have visited.

As with other reviewers, we were taken by the ceiling, with its pictures of saints, and the impressive main door. The church's own artwork was interesting and historic. However, we were bemused by the modern art display in front of the altar -- not very religious and out of character.

Lovely place to go. Very quite, lovely art work and time to sit a just contemplate some of these wonderful works of art. Much better than any museum

Upper and lower. Lovely frescoes. They had an art exhibit with water theme when we visited. A little off the regular tourist path. But on the way to Juliet's tomb..
