We came across this road train parked in the market place.Boppard is not a large town so the 30mins round trip gives a good idea of places to visit later.

For the modest fare, it is the perfect way to discover Boppard, passing the important sights and describing them. It provides a perspective of this beautiful town in about 30 minutes in a comfortable and informative way right from the ferry pier and back again.

The train was there when we disembarked from a Rhine cruise so jumped on the see the sights. It took about 30 minutes. The right reason for the very good tour was seeing where the roman ruins, church and square was. The wrong reason for the very good, that made us laugh, was the pointing out of the hospital and modern town hall. All in all worth doing so you can get a view of what is there.

We took the little tour train all around Boppard. It was a great way to see the sites of the village and the location to all the tourist attractions and our hotel. We went to the Tourist Centre when we arrived and they gave us a coupon book that gave us great discounts on the little tour train as well as on many of the day River Cruise companies.

This holiday train with three carriages seats about fifty passengers, although on the tour we were on perhaps only half that number. The tour took us around Boppard in about half an hour. The trip round the town started off at the Romanesque-Gothic St. Severus Church near to the boat station. It passed Roman excavations dating back to the 4th and 5th centuries that were discovered when a car park was being built. The train then went through the south gate of the town wall and eventually through the town centre. We got off at the Market Square before it returned to the river front. It was an excellent way to see the town and get your bearings at a cost of only four Euros.
