magister faust haus

we had hoped to have dinner there. The last time we were there was 6 years ago, and it was an excellent meal in a great old building. On this visit, it was closed, and only a tourgroup was standing in front being lectured about its history.Too bad...

15th Century stood at this location the home of the legendary Magister Johann Georg Sabellicus Faust, the later Dr. Faustus. Magician, alchemist and Rektor of the Gymnasium. On the foundations of the original Faust House is now a gaststube built with original "Faustian" character. In the rocks above the cellar door is engraved: “1598”. Many inscriptions and paintings on the walls and the half-timbered stories tell of the old magic legend: at his death around 1540, there was the rumor that he had a pact with devil. Mephisto made him an offer: he would serve Faust 24 years on Earth, Faust then in return would have to give him his soul. Faust agreed as he was unhappy on Earth. Mephisto rewarded Faust with all wealth, knowledge and all pleasures of life. Faust became the most famous astrologer, his horoscopes never failed. As he did not have any earthly limitations, he traveled from the depths of hell to the most distant stars. When Faust falls in love with Margarete, he asks the help of Mephisto: he wants her at all costs. When the devil had served Faust for the promised 24 years, Faust dies a gruesome death

Практически на набережной внизу у большого моста с правой стороны если идти от вокзала. Табличка гласит что жил тут 7 лет с 1525 по 1532 годы. Дом очень интересно смотрится, вроде бы построен в 15 веке. С доктором Фаустом связано много легенд, но, как утверждал наш немецкий коллега документально подтверждено, что доктор Иоганн Фауст прибыл в этот город в 1507 году и работал здесь недолго учителем. Имеются данные, подтверждающие и то, что этот доктор Иоганн Фауст проводить тут свои алхимические и магические опыты. Так что, видимо, можно думать, что это был действительно «тот» доктор Фауст. Сейчас в доме вроде бы должен был быть ресторан, но, когда мы были (правда в понедельник), он был закрыт. Но, в любом случае, дом «прикольно» выглядит и я очень советую посетить его, если будете в Бад-Кройцнах. И в заключение, я достаточно много поездила и по Европе, и по Германии, и видела многие городки и замки, и многие мне понравились, но как-то запал мне в душу этот очаровательный городок Bad Kreuznach.
