st. nikolaus

We found this church closed, so I guess it will be only opened during mass. It is a former monastery church, consecrated in1710. Belonged to the in 1685 founded by Elector Philipp Wilhelm Capuchin monastery, lifted in 1802 due to the secularization. Untill the inauguration of the new Church the Werner Chapel served the Capuchin. Built between 1688-1705 and designed by Hugh of Traunstein. An sober 4-axled halle Church. Rectangular restored altar area, exterior skylight, highlighted by the monastic choir. Interior: the veneered Altar (1694), two painted frontals (1692), HL. Johann Nepomuk sculpture(18th century), oil paintings and a Golgotha relief (early 1600), a good copy of "Maria Magdalena" (Correggio) created by Gerhard von Kügelgen. At the exterior a stone “Mother God” sculpture is placed at the northeast corner.
