When we visited there was a special exhibit of jewelry by a female glass blower. I was able to purchase a beautiful necklace at a reasonable price. Demonstrations are ongoing by a glass blower. Worth the side trip off the main square area.

You have to really be into glass and glass products for this site. We spent a grand total of 10 minutes....it's just not our thing.

This former "Kallenbach'schen Haus" dating back to 1577, as well as the adjacent half-timbered House, houses Baden-Württemberg‘s only glass museum. Exhibits of antique luxury glass, history of the glass industry, glass beads, glass Cabinet in science and industry, glassblowing demonstrations, etc. When we visited there was a temproary display of a large (and thus costly) collection of paperweights.

Das Glasmuseum in einem alten, liebevoll restaurierten Fachwerkhaus bietet enorm viel: Glas als Gebrauchsgegenstand (Trinkgefäße z. B.), als industrielles Glas (Linsen für Ampeln z. B.), Glas in der Medizin (Glasauge, Thermometer, Reagenzgefäße z. B.) und natürlich als Kunstobjekte (Vasen, Schalen, etc.). Saisonbedingt gibt es Sonderausstellungen wie mit Christbaumschmuck oder Osterdekoration. Außerdem kann man einem Glasbläser bei der Fertigung zusehen oder sich auch mal selbst als "Glasbläser" versuchen. Diverse Glasartikel können in einem Shop käuflich erworben werden, teils Replikate nach historischen Vorbildern.

Sehr interessant ist die Vorführung des Glasbläsers. Man kann dabei auch selber aktiv werden wenn man will. Es ist sehr viel zusehen ob technik oder Schmuck.

Informativ, mit offensichtlicher Hingabe und Wissen gemacht, und wenn man schlussendlich sein eigenes Mitbringsel selbst geblasen hat, eine dauerhafte schöne Erinerung.

Lugar aconchegante,bem interessante(quando a gente nao ta fazendo nada)com pecas bonitas e historias desconhecidas,para mim,de como surgiram os enfeites de natal,modelos de termometros,processoa de aperfeicoamento na fabricacao do vidro!Bonitas,mas nao muitas,pecas em exposicao!

Das Glasmuseum ist meines Wissens das derartig Einzige in Europa. Wid von vielen Hotelschiffen als Reisepunkt besucht.Wechselnde Ausstellungen das ganze Jahr. Besonders für die Osterzeit und für Weihnachten.
