Gengenbach is the location of the worlds biggest advent calendar located in it's medieval town center. There are 24 windows on the 18th century town hall. Nightly ritual runs from November 30th to December 23rd annually. If you plan to visit the Christmas Markets in Germany make sure you have this one on your schedule. You won't regret it.

This review is based largely on when we visited. Namely while the Christmas Market was still open and thriving. The very cool thing that Gengenbach does with their town hall is to turn the windows into a Christmas Calendar. Each window has original artwork done on it, and the artwork remains hidden until the specified day. Then the blind in front is raised to reveal the artwork of the day. We were there on 22 December, so we got to see almost all of the artwork for this year (it changes every year).This is a great addition to the Weihnachtsmarkt (Christmas Market) that covers the main streets during this time of year. Definitely worth stopping by and taking a few pictures while enjoying all the local Weihnachtsmarkt has to offer.

I had been to strasburg in the morning and then travelled to Germany to Gengenbach,it was very beautiful,the houses were so picturesque,and everything was orderly and structured.The town hall was amazing,there was a brass band playing carols and an array of christmas stalls selling all sorts of food wine and gifts.I thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon here and it is a total must to see

Gengenbach is calm and charming small town. I was told it is beautiful and worth visiting but once we arrived we realized that it is much more beautiful than the way it was described to us. We visited Gengenbach on a Saturday and there was kind of local market around the Town Hall Square, with local products, food and drinks offered in many booths. Local band was performing which made the atmosphere very lovely. There are many restaurants and cafés in the area. Flower were arrange in artistic manner all over the place which make the town gorgeous. Spending at least few hours here will be for sure good decision.

Tínhamos muita expectativa por conhecer este povo da Selva Preta alemã, mas realmente não nos surpreendeu. É bonito, claro, como todos os pequenos povos alemães..Seu town hall luze impecable, como todo o resto do povo.

sehr lehrreich und sehenswert ist ein Spaziergang durch dieAltstadt in Gengenbach . Auch die Bauart der Gebäude.Auch die ürige Lokalitäten.

Gengenbach hat eine sehr schöne historische Altstadt, die für den Weihnachtsmarkt sehr schön illuminiert ist. Das Rathaus ist ein schönes historisches Gebäude, dessen Fenster als Adventskalender dienen. Die Stände laden zum kaufen, essen und trinken ein. Leider ist die Fensterenthüllung sehr unweihnachtlich, es ging um Sams und an dem Tag als wir dort waren um Werbung für den Europa-Park Rust, auch auf der großen elektronischen Anzeigetafel. Ich finde das zerstört das Ambiente, am besten auf die Fensterenthüllung verzichten.

Gengenbach werd verkozen als "Hoofdstad van de fantasie" van 29.11.14 tot 06.01.2015Dit najaar kan je gaan kijken naar Adventsmarkt en kalender van 29.11 tot 23.12.2014.Van maandag tot vrijdag van 15.00 - 20.00 uur, zaterdag enn zondag van 12.00 tot 20.00 uur.Om 18 worden de ramen van de Town Hall donker en is er een optreden door kinderen. Mit 24 Fenstern muss das Rathaus von Gengenbach jedes Jahr als Adventskalender her halten. Der Weihnachtsmarkt davor bietet alles was man in den kalten Tagen braucht.

Ville magnifique, surtout en cette période, avec le marché de noël au pied de la mairie et nous pouvons profiter du plus grand calendrier de l'Avent au monde. Chaque jour une fenêtre est ouverte vers 18h15 car il y a un petit spectacle avant.Si vous venez avec des enfant les mettre devant car il y a une distribution de chocolat.

Alun-alun kota ini sebenarnya tidak terlalu menarik dibandingkan alun-alun kota lain. Tapi berkunjung kesini di Bulan Desember cukup menyenangkan, dengan adanya pasar natal disini. Dan yang paling menarik, bangunan utama di Gengenbach Town Hall ini akan menjelma menjadi advent kalendar, sebuah tradisi natal masyarakat Jerman. Setiap jendela diberi nomor 1-24, dan setiap nomor akan dibuka setiap hari sesuai tanggal.
