We decided to visit here to taste and buy some wine. We emailed them before to make sure that they would be open. Since we were coming from far they said that if we wouldnt be there during normal hours we could call and then stop by. But we did make it during the normal opening hours. The son served us and let us taste various wines from which we did buy a few bottles. Very friendly and not at all pushy. Their wines are very good.

Just back from spending a week on work experience in the Kusterer vineyard and winery in Esslingen near Stuttgart in Germany. Every step of the process is carried out with such attention to the finest detail under the watchful eye of Hans, Moni and Maximilian. They are also fine tutors - drawing my attention to important points of consideration at each step and the consequences of poor workmanship from picking the grapes right through to the final step. They also make a wonderful Sekt and on my final evening there my tasting skills were put to the test - a thoroughly fantastic experience! Can't say how well I scored...! Their new 'state of the art' winery is nearing completion and is situated right in the middle of the vineyards - some of it hewn out of rock. Each part of the building is designed to minimise time between each process, thus ensuring even a better end product. The building will include all the facilities mentioned below; toilets, restaurant overlooking the vineyard etc. What I learned here brought the books to life! If you get an opportunity to buy their wines, jump at the chance. They also ship wine overseas. The town of Esslingen has a very interesting history is also a wonderful place to spend some time - only 20 minutes from Stuttgart airport by bus.
