It was a few months ago but I think I got the number of steps right. You can see miles from the top, they told us over to France, at least to the Alsace border. It was very friendly, slightly dark and uneven on the stairs but the view of the town and the surrounding areas made up for it. And Bad Wimpfen is a lovely town. Great day.

Didn't have the opportunity to go inside due to construction but it looked beautiful. The Christmas market was beautiful too !!

Often trumpets play at the top of the tower on Sundays. A nice family lives at the top floor and runs the tourist atraction. Sometime they have a case of beer at the door and if you carry it to the top, they give you a free beer. At times they invite the tourist in to play piano and have a glass of wine at the top of the tower.

I read the reviews ahead of time and feared that I would arrive at the Tower and it would be closed. But I was in luck and I made it all the way to the top. The 200 or so steps were not a big deal, there are landings and chairs placed upon them to rest if needed. I loved the view from up there and in particular the breeze as it was a very HOT day. On the way down I was pleased to meet the tower keeper/resident and truly enjoyed her story and recommendations for where to go for further sight seeing and dinner.

We managed yo get out of the searing heat, around 36 degrees, in to the cool interior of the blue tower. The climb is quite steep but there are various platforms on the way up that tell and show the history if the tower, nothing is written in English, but some thought and deciphering, using the pictures, told us that there was a fire and the tower was rebuilt. You got to view the rather melted original bell and for €1.50, go out on to the observation deck that gave you stunning views over the town and surrounding countryside. Loved it!

there is a small nominal fee to this wonderful tower sight seeing, but it is all in good use for the upkeep of the same. the climb up is over 200 some odd stairs and nothing for the unfit but so worth it. it is very well maintained and the view from the top is priceless. and if you do not wish to go for the climb you can marvel from street level and have a look at the whole of the stunning medieval grounds. it makes for a very romantic stroll which leads you through many winding narrow cobble stoned ways, where the history and life of a bygone age is palpable. marvel at the many newly renovated houses where the young generation of inhabitants put a lot of effort in adhering to the old rules of architecture in order to keep the ancient integrity in tact. this little medieval city is so worth a visit. there is so much to see that it is well worth a whole 1-2 day trip. a gem of the old world very well preserved. two thumbs way up!!!

We stopped in Bad Wimpfen on our day trip along the Neckar River. It was a nice jewel on the road. Small condense with beautiful setting. Climb to the fort from the Tourist Info on the river side a nice view of the river. On top the nice towers beautiful houses restaurants for a nice stop. The place is on slopes so the walks demand some effort, not extreme.

I believe there were originally 3 maybe 4 towers surrounding the village of Bad Wimpfen. Two are still standing. The tower keeper actually lives at the top of the tower so make sure it's open before you go up. Believe me, you don't want to climb all those steps and find a locked door! The view from the top was stunning of the old half timber homes and the Neckar River below. Well worth the climb. Enjoy!

Very interesting village centre, even though some of the houses look as though they are being heldp together by superglue. But that was part of the attraction!

This tower is one of the oldest original part of the old city of Barbarosa! It provides a very nice view of the city from this height. Very nice walk up and not too difficult climb! The tower keeper/resident is very nice and informative!

If you dont mind a steep climb, and have a head for heights, it is worth the view from the top. Check times as it is not always open.
