Lake Aasee is a perfect place to walk,run or relax. You can walk then at the end of your walk you can reach to Münster City and you can do this year around. Also there is a sailing club,restaurant and a bar too. Very nice, very clean.

The Aasee Lake is located nearby the city centre, just 10 min walking distance. Is a nice area, with walking and cycling path all around. You can find some restaurants and cafés on the right side just close to the small Marina. In summer time is also a great location to make a picnic or barbecue on the surrounding grass areas. You will not be alone since lots of young German students or families take the same opportunity in the sunny days. It is a safe place for walking, and even in the early morning hours you can find people jogging or going for walk the dog. At the end right side there is the munster zoo after it a small forest and then a horse club. At the left side the youth hostel house, a playground and also close to the end a marrina for small sailing boats. The full way around the lake is around 8 km, but the bridges in the middle allow short rounds. Available is also a boat trip, with several stops around the lake. Full trip takes 45 to 60 minutes. Great to see is also the changes on the environment durring the different seasons.

The Aasee Lake is situated some 10-minute walking distance to the centre of Münster City. Münster is actually a large town but since there are now 300.000 people living in Münster, it has officially become a city.As many viewers have already written, the Aasee Lake is simply a wonderful place to be near or around. During the summer season, this lake is visited by many people who, wish to picnic around it; grill in the evenings. Parents are frequently seen playing games with their active children; and the atmosphere all around Lake Aasee is one of tranquilly, peace and quiet and, enjoyment.During a very cold winter, the lake freezes over, and young and old alike, actually skate across it. It´s quite a beauty sight to witness. Seeing happy and smiling people take playful advantage of the winter elements is simply gorgeous to see. I was first shown this lake in late 1989. Shortly after this time I moved to Münster, (not because of Lake Aasee by the way) and when I was somewhat younger, I used to run around Lake Aasee. The joy I experienced from running around this lake brought me much happiness and reward. The wide bridge that allows traffic to cross over Lake Aasee, was completed in 1989. This bridge is approximately in the middle of both stretches of the lake´s waters, and from this very bridge, the view from both side is wonderful. If travelers have never been to Lake Aasee, I can only recommend that they do. You won´t be disappointed.

Nice view, nice people and Excellent weather in falls seasonThe lake was graet, the animals is there even many people around them included kayak, paddle boat, machine boat and others. The path was good, and there's a nice restaurant too.

Large lake ideal for walks, pedal boat hire,fishing ( no doubt with licence) sailing, boat hire, cycling, fishing and jogging. At the city end there 4 eating options. An Italian more formal, a local gasthaus, a brasserie mostly burgers, and rather good bratwurst stand. From that end is a shuttle boat to the zoo. Quite a pleasant way to get there. There are various odd works of art scattered about to take in. Lots of dog walking. Bird life for nature lovers and more.

The Aasee is to be honest simply a large lake with a path around it. Or at least that's how I felt when I fist saw it. I know absolutely love it. On warm days the grassy areas and paths around the Aasee are sprawling with locals grilling and playing outdoor games, running or cycling, doing watersports or playing board games (at least, that's what I love in summer). Beautiful in all lights and all weathers. Walking to and around the Aasee you will also find many of the sculptures that make up the sculpture tour of Münster.

Pretty walk around the lake with easily accessible paths. Still in the heart of the city but an oasis of calm away from the hustle and bustle

Every time I visit Muenster, a stop at this small lake in the heart of the city is an absolute must. The lake is located to the southeast of the city center, and part of the lake is actually adjacent to the zoo (another popular local destination). The lake has a trail around it for walking, running, or cycling, and is surrounded by plenty of grassy areas that are commonly used by people to hang out, relax, barbecue, etc. It is a very popular destination for local college students, but there are also lots of families walking around and enjoying the scenery. When the weather is nice, people come from all over town to spend some quality time at the lake. You can even rent paddle boats or small sail boats there, go fishing, or enjoy a cold beer. The only thing that is not recommended is swimming there, because the water is anything but clean.

Picturesque, peaceful, but still busy with very active people sailing, jogging, walking, napping, rowing, etc. A nice active hub. Great for people watching.

Lovely cafes and restaurants to sit and watch the yachts and the people enjoying a stroll on a summer evening.

This beautiful artificial lake is close to the city centre. It has lovely walks and there is sailing on the lake. It is very crowded on week ends but peaceful during the week.

I often spend summer days Walking around it, BBQing beside it and the only way to make me enjoy it more would be to be able to swim in it!The Aasee is the perfect Meeting Point for friends and colleagues to enjoy a beer and grill some bratwursts in the sun, even in the winter, if it is cold enough, you can skate on it!

Best way to discover Muenster is via bicycle. Bicycles can be rented all around the city. Take some food and drinks and you can rest all around the lake, enjoy the view, the fresh air and nature. Depending on where you are at the Aasee it can be very quite, more towards the city it will be busier and louder. Ask for a map and routes when renting a bike. There are very nice spots which are probably very difficult to discover without map/knowledge.In the Wintertime you might be lucky and the lake will be frozen. Its perfect for ice-skating or just walking over it. However, this only happens every few years. Watch out for an official clearance from the authorities in Münster. You dont want to crack into the lake when its not frozen properly. Enjoy !

Stunning water way. Lots of people out early walking, running & cycling. Would be a fantastic spot during the summer. I was on a solo sightseeing walking tour of Munster & only spent a short time here. Taking many photos. Beautiful park & lake.
