My kids loved being able to explore. The museum was fascinating and worth the trip. One of the museum workers engaged my kids in conversation and was explaining things to them. We felt very welcomed.

Hours for this sight are limited, as it closes at 3 pm. The ruins and museum are interesting . It is definitely worth a visit. In the museum. Thessaloniki' s history is highlighted and the importance of the sight.

This was less than a minute from my hotel ( the Olympia), so, naturally, it was the first place I visited. Unfortunately, as many others have said, it was closed off, but walking around gave me a good idea of how impressive this agora and forum must have been in its heyday.

For those interested in Roman heritage, this is a must-see stop. It is a well presevred fine example of what an administrative square in an Eastern Roman province looked like. Do not miss the museum underground, it is very informative. The agora is within a walking distance from the other main city center attractions.Working hours are not clearly visible, it took us three attempts until we found the site open. So make sure you check accessibility in advance.

Huge and old ruins in middle of city, surrounding by buildings and hotels, but so beautiful place! The museum under the ground was full of information and interesting. Do not miss this place for sure, it was great experience in Thessaloniki.

It was just next to our hotel (Orestias Kastorias) so we wanted to visit these ruins. However we could not enter the site as it was closed - I think we saw some kind of information plate next to the entrance booth but ridiculously access to this plate was also closed so how on earth should I know when it will open??? Just another example of Greek "how to NOT attract visitors". At least here you can get a clear view to the site. So even if it's closed it's not a total waste of your time.

We are staying at a hotel straight across the road from these ruins and from the top floor the view of the agora and theatre are amazing. I'm sure for all those locals that live in the surrounding apartments that this is not much to look at but for my eyes that just can't imagine having this as your view, it is amazing.

Overall impression of the sites in Thessaloniki is that they are not well cared for. There is such a wealth of remains here but they are marred by graffiti and rubbish. The Greeks are missing a trick here by failing to exploit their wonderful archaeology in a tourist friendly manner. Some sites lack even an identification board.

Gorgeous and huge site that is clearly visible as you move downwards from the Kastro (city fortifications). It is nicely lit at night. Many places to walk around and you can see most of the site from outside. Which was what I did, as I found it, unfortunately, closed off in January. Hopefully it will be up and running for other visitors.

Just as interesting as all the ruins in Thessaloniki! Definetely advise to go downstairs and visit all the area. Only sad thing is the huge amount of modern buildings all around.

With the exception of the Theater; that is very well preserved; the rest of the ruins are incomplete and scattered in a vast area. This does not lower in any way the value and richness of this great representation of the Greek Civilization. The forum is surrounded by modern high rise buildings; it makes you wonder what other treasures are hidden beneath these structures.

Greek and Roman agora. Really worths a visit... the underground museum is also worth visiting. Too bad its only 1/3 of the ancient agora as the rest is bellow modern apartment blocks. Let's hope one day we will be able to fully excavate the city...

Amazing place and that you can walk around. Didn't care for the photographic exhibition but the underground museum was very interesting, be prepared to spend a long time there and it was very warm.

In the center of the city of Thessaloniki, old meets new.Construction on the agora,it is in the heart of new city.So you can combine a perfect day, with ancient site and shopping in the center of the city,or drink a coffee,or better have a lunch close it.About the Roman agora it is a perfect complex with a small but very nice musuem. You can see the ancient mint, odeum, baths and others. You must visit

Pretty well preserved site in the middle of modern big city. Looks good by day, fabulous by night. I don't know if you can enter, it was all closed by the time we get there, but I understood that there are shows there from time to time. Nice idea from the Greek authorities. It really worth a visit.
