After island hopping between Santorini and Mykonos in early September, we stumbled upon this lively gem. There are amazing sights, beautiful men and women everywhere (especially over in the gay friends area). the water was amazingly beautiful (but cold) and blue.We rented scooters for a few days while staying in Mykonos and the drive from where we stayed (Karmari Hotel) to Platis Gialos Beach was scenic and hilly but great as well. Parking was ok considering we only had scooters but could have been a bear had we been in an actual car. Chair rental was about 10 euro each but that didn't bother us as our waiter found us two chairs right at the waters edge-coupled with great music moderately prices food and drinks....what more can you ask for. It truly is a lively paradise!.

because it's one of the best beach ever, and the sea is fantastic! Nice bars on the each, friendly people, always sunny, relaxing, good for tanning and for meeting people.

I would recommend heading to Platis Gialos for the wide variety of restaurants and food! The restaurants right by the waterfront are exceptionally good with reasonable prices for its fish and seafood starters.

Great place to relax for a while and also be in the thick of the fun. Great restaurants, with Free WIFI! They'll bring food right to your lounge chair, and it's good! This was right next to our hotel so we frequented this beach. I wouldn't travel from other parts of the island to come here, but it's a good area to stay in.

Stunning coves within a beautiful safe for supervised children blue sea, water temperature swimmingly warm even in Middle of October. Easily accessible restaurants adjacent to white sandy beach. Frequent bus service to and from Mykonos stops near the beach area cost 2/3 euros for two people. Highly recommended visit.

Plenty of places to sit and just wind away an hour or two sipping a coffee in comfort watching life pass by. EcellentThe only thing that spoilt it for me was the sunbeds - they were so close together on the beach you had to be friends with your neighbour but as we went in October - no such problem and the sun was still hot and out all day

Rather cramped on the right, but more space as one moves south/east. Clean and great tavernas back stage.

there are nicer beaches in mykonos than this one! I liked it the least! Very crowded, water is not as clear as other beaches! however the area has a variety of restaurants offering delicious food day & night

Platys Gialos Beach was a very nice beach but small in comparison. There was nowhere to sit without renting beach chairs and umbrellas but that didn't bother us so much because the rental price for 2 lounge chairs and the umbrellas was 12 euro which was very reasonable. The water was crystal clear, pretty warm (around 80-81 degrees) and turquoise blue like the carribbean. There was a whole row of nice restaurants lining the full length of the beach meeting all kinds of tastes and waiters available for any drink requests. The first day we arrived the water was rough because it was windy. The second day it was perfectly calm, 85 degrees and sunny which made it a great beach day. The sand had more small pebbles than most top notch beaches but still not bad. The only downside was the peddlers constantly bothering you to buy something which is standard at most beaches that we visit so be prepared. Overall, we were impressed with this beach and happy we spent the day enjoying this Mykonos attraction. We and would highly recommend this island for a stay. Definitely, visit the main town of Mykonos which was so unique with its architecture of narrow paths with shops and restaurants and so full of life and safe everywhere you went because of the nice friendly people.

This was the most wonderful beach we found, fab sun beds, great food, fantastic snorkelling, all in all just perfect

A really great beach - nice and relaxing, not far to restaurants, lots of sun beds, good waiter service on the beach from all restaurants. Get rid of the hawkers that want to sell you 20 pairs of sunglasses when you are already wearing some and it would be perfect!

Its a little away from Mykonos town and Paradise islands (party place), but worth a stay because of the view that it provides.

Surprisingly, I enjoyed this beach more than Paradise Beach. The beach and surroundings were nice and tranquil. We stayed at the Myconian Ambassador, so use of the Yialo-Yialo beach chairs were complimentary. As we visited in October, crowds were not an issue, but the constant approach of people trying to sell designer knock-offs was a little off putting...especially when you are trying to relax. Seriously, who wants to buy a 'gucci' handbag while at the beach? All in all, a great visit.

Traveled to Greece on a Gate 1 Tour. Trip was fabulous, everything I had hoped for as far as the beauty and the beaches there. We stayed at the Karmari Hotel, very close to Platis Gialos Beach. The beach was great, but the beach chairs that are offered for 5 euros could certainly be a little cleaner than they were. Cushions looked old, worn and dirty and definitely needed a towel to feel comfortable on them. For the price they charge tourists, you would think they could put new cushions on the chairs each year.
