This will be short - very impressive church, especially inside, wide views on the Wolfgang See in a romantic Austrian village

The church is quite attractive from outside but inside it is so beautiful, stunning artwork and statues. It also feels very peaceful and invites you to linger and say a prayer.

The alter by Michael Pacher has to be seen to be believed.Go to Mass, its uplifting. The congregation are very friendly.

The church which is imposing is elevated above the street and accessed by a flight of steps. On entering the interior the atmosphere appears quite dull and ones sight soon adjusts and becomes aware of the numerous highly decorated altars around. To not visit this church when in St. Wolfgang would be a terrible mistake!

Firstly, St Wolfgang has got to be up there with one of the most truly stunning places I have ever had the pleasure to visit. The town itself it picturesque and gleaming, the lake is wide and of a beautiful view, and the surrounding hills and mountains are just beautiful. The church itself is a really nice little medieval church, with a lovely alter placed inside which is definitely worth checking out. Very impressive indeed.

Lovely medieval church. Numerous services. Over the Christmas period a full choir added to the atmosphere. The Michael Pacher winged altar is one of the great pieces of late Gothic art. It shows the life of St Wolfgang and is a harmony of art, gilded sculpture and architecture. The wings may not be open during the week to preserve the paintings. Constructed in the late 1400's this is a very important piece of religious art.

This church is well photographed from the outside but it has a beautiful inside too. Photographs are not allowed and there was a peaceful and respectful atmosphere inside. It is a little dark inside so make sure to look at the beautifully painted ceilings. The church has an impressive carved altarpiece and a second Baroque altarpiece which was originally going to replace the one on the main altar but in the end they kept both. There is no charge to enter but you can make a donation which helps with the upkeep if you choose. If you enter from the main door entry is a little easier than if you use the side entrance which has a few stairs.

All Sankt Wolfgang photographs prominently feature the exterior of this waterside church, and it was only by chance that we decided to look inside in conjunction with our partaking of the retail area in town ("The Market"). We are so glad we did so.As others have noted, the interior is amazingly ornate, enough gold to go around for many, pretty much like a downsized version of Melk Abbey. There are two separate altars reflecting centuries of history. Also as others have noted, there is a clearly posted sign on the outside asking visitors to NOT take ANY photographs, flash or otherwise...it is rather dark inside, without a tripod we would not have been able to take a good picture anyway, but all the stores in town feature a 50 cent postcard that captures the essence of the interior quite well.Bottom line, do be sure to stop by and visit the Pfarrkirche, is is a treasure not to be missed.

This a very enchanting church. Worth a visit!I particularly liked the wood work and the organ. We also liked the view of St Wolfgang lake from the back of the church.

Worth a wander to see the beautiful altar inside. The surrounding area around the church is picture perfect for lake view photographs. The outside of the church is unassuming but worth a view inside for the altar.

very nice inside ornate surroundings lots of gold around the alter, right in the centre of St Wofgangsee, you are asked not to take photo's but many people were, it is free to go into the church and it was quiet nice as the people who owned our accommodation there child had her confirmation their a few days before we arrived so lots of celebration was in full flow. worth going to have a look inside.

Central and well worth going into. A typical country Catholic church, not that well lit. The alter piece is serene

Worth going into just to see the two amazing alters, the church as you would expect is in the centre of st wolfgang and looking out to sea, quite beautiful!
