Hacu Bayram Camii is a great discover inside Ankara Centre. Is not very easy to find and if you can go early in the morning, at the first pray, you can see the magic atmosphere there is here. The lights around the Mosque create a nice effect and the quite around, with the castle of Ankara on the left side finish the nice landscape.

Haci Bayram Veli is a saint lived in 14th century. The mosque was constructed by his grand son after his death. The area around the Haci Bayram Mosque is developed in 20th century in accordance with the winner's project of the planning competition. In addition to the mosque, the visitors can visit to the tomb of Haci Bayram Veli. In Turkey, many people come to visit his tomb; pray, make a wish and take a pice of cand/sugar as a rituel. Whenever somebody's wish comes true, he has to revisit to the tomb and bring a package of sugar/candies. I hope that all visitors' wishes come true soon:)

Like the christian sunday morning service, muslims have friday noon one. So, there is a crowd waits for you if you choose to visit this particular time. In addition, since it is a popular mosque, there are more guests than those of the others. (Its popularity is not because of its aesthetic value or such stuff but because of the spiritual reputation of the person to whom the name of the mosque is attributed: Haci Bayram Veli.) The immediate environs, especially the directions other than east side are not so safe to roam around -- if you are not a sociologist doing field study, or a spy doing bla bla.Prefer taxi if you are not so close yet.

We walked here from the Anatolian civilization museum. It has some nice small shops in the arcade to browse. This was the third place we visited and we spent one hour here.

This mosque is built on the Temple of Augustus, and they have preserved 1 wall of the ancient temple. There are nice water features around the complex, and it is a very pleasant place to spend time.

If you are in Ankara, this is the place you should see first. Many other places which could be offered to you cannot be as real as this place.

This mosque is probably the oldest mosque in Ankara. Everyone should see it and the places around it. As Ankara does not have too many touristic places, that mosque deserves a few hours for paying a visit.

One of the more interesting sights in Ankara. Nothing spectacular but nice enough for a quick look. Plaza around mosque is OK though getting very kitsch. Temple of Augustus ruins nearby.

This mosque is particularly impressive. The interior and the lights can only be described as awe inspiring. Definitely worth a visit.

Was not sure if I had to go in the separate entrance but was guided there by an elderly man. I was directed downstairs to a large pillared and carpeted room with Islamic symbols on the wall and groups of women sitting talking or praying. There was nothing else to see. Having visited Istanbul where I went into all the wonderful mosques I was disappointed.

I wandered over from the Roman baths and had to walk around some construction. They are renovating the area. I was surprised to finally arrive and see the plaza full of tourists. The Mosque is beautiful. My first visit To a mosque so I wasn't sure what to exoect or where I could go. But it appeared you could go anywhere so I followed people in. Be sure to visit upstairs for a different perspective. It was lovely and the chandelier is beautiful. The Temple of Augustus and Rome is right next to the mosue. The area has benches and water fountains and is quite beautiful. Music plays through speakers so you can find a nice place to sit and rest. Walk through the new streets full of shops back down to the Hisar area.

There was nothing special in this mosque. it was an ordinary place and I didn't enjoy it. I do not recommend it.
