Was determined to see this. The road may not be very long, but seemed to go on forever. Fairly open to the elements out there. We reached the cave but the weather had closed in and it was very cold and wet. I was told later that if we had walked further to the 2nd entrance it was easier to walk in, but this first parking area looked hard going with many large fallen rocks and snow. Went in a little way, but never achieved what I hoped to. Make sure you are appropriately dressed and have suitable torch etc as it is black as pitch in there!

This was a very interesting place to visit. You park a few hundred feet away from the cave and begin to walk towards what seems like nothing. Then you slowly start to see sunken areas in the rock that are sprouting with beautiful flowers and vegetation. A few moments later we come upon a monstrous opening in the ground where the lava tube opens up and there is this tiny ladder to use to climb into the cave and explore. Unfortunately we did not make plans to walk through the tube, which seemed like a very interesting thing to do, but it is necessary to have the proper gear to do this so that you are safe. Be sure to dress appropriately for the season so that you aren't surprised with the potential high winds and rain like we were.
