Came here as a part of a tour while on an equestrian vacation with Alfa Riders, Ltd. So peaceful and beautiful! The monastery if a lovely place to visit. The caves, although dark, have a glow path and are full of history. It was a fun learning experience.

The "Bacho Kiro" cave is not the best or most inetersting cave which tourists can visit but it is still worth a visit if you go to Dryanovo Monastery. The scenery surrounding the cave is beautiful, there is a small waterfall. There is an eco-trail which leads to the top of the rocks. The cave is better to be visited in the summer weekends because at that time it is easier to find enough people for the long route inside (at least 15 people). Otherwise you will have to pass the short route. The price is symbolical and the entries are done with a guide only.

We went to Dryanovo monastery and Bacho Kiro Cave on Saturday, both places were very, very crowded, we have to park our the car about 600-700 meters away from the monastery entrance. From the monastery onto the cave, it is a pleasant short walk by the side of a mountain river and the forest. The cave itself it is like a big grotto, nothing spectacular at all, we were dissappointed since we expected to see stalactites and stalagmites, but nothing as such on the short walk we took (the fee was 3 Leva). So unless you take the long walk which should be more interesting, do not bother to go into the cave, just enjoy the mountain cliff and the little waterfall in the surroundings.

We made a special trip to visit these caves after reading various reviews on them and was sadly disappointed. On arrrival we were informed that only a party of 50 people could complete the long walk (60 mins) inside the caves, which is what we wished to do, so no good if you are travelling on your own or as a family, the short walk in the caves was enjoyable but only takes about 20 minutes to complete and you return along the same route you take in. At least the cost of entry 3 lev each was not expensive. The waterfall on the way to the entrance was the most impressive sight of our day. Very disappointed.

a small and beautiful place to visit, near veliko tarnovo. the guide tell you a few things about the cave in bulgarian and also in french language and after that on the short way you can go alone and visit the cave.

The Bacho Kiro cave is located near the Dryanovo Monastery and the road to get there is a very beautiful one (there is a beautiful waterfall there). The cave is best known for the discovery of a cave-bear skeleton (unfortunately, the skeleton is now at a museum in London, the ticket seller told me). The ticket price is ceap (a few leva), but the cave is very nice.
