i studied it for years. i think it is very pathetic work of heavily oppressed people, who did not know well the art of building and tried to build some symbol of their desire of independence and rise.

The Trinity Cathedral is part of the Holy Trinity Monastary (Lavra) found in 1340 by the patron saint St. Sergius. The monastery compound consists of several distinctive structures , the iconic Assumption Cathedral with a golden cupola in the centre and 4 sky blue ones on the side with gold stars, the Trinity Cathedral itself which is white with 2 cupolas and a golden roof and was said to contain the revered holy relics of St. Sergius, the highest building in the monastery Belfry which is a 5 tiers baroque bell tower, the Miraculous Fountain with water coming from Assumption wells and was believed to have healing power, the Church of the Descent of the Holy Spirit which is small and has a bell tower under its dome, the huge block shaped Reflectory Chuch of St. Sergius which was once a dining hall of pilgrims and the green Metropolitan's residence. This place impresses even when you are outside the compound's high walls as the colorful tops of the various churches and towers stand tall and can be seen from afar. What impressed me most however were the Orthodox Church followers who came to worship and admire the relics of St. Sergius. You can tell from their demeanor in the churches that they are serious and committed to their religion, and their fervour for their patron saint was undisputed. No wonder this place is regarded as the spiritual centre of the Russian Orthodox Church. Overall, the buildings and the grounds were immaculately maintained. One shortcoming however was there were few English illustrations for visitors (same with many Russian attractions), even their layout plan at the entrance was only in Russian. It may be worth doing some research on the place through the internet before you visit or better still bring an English speaking guide. In any case, I strongly recommend that this is a must visit place when you come to Moscow.

The must to visit for all those who dare visiting Russia these days. I liked everything there, although the atmosphere for foreigners is truly tense.

With white exterior and gold domes on the top,this cathedral looks rather small comparing to other cathedrals in the monastery complex. However,it was built over the original site of wooden church and holy relics of St. Sergius were discovered on this site during the construction of the Cathedral in 1422. St.Nikon who St. Sergius entrusted the leadership to, oversaw the construction, died in 1426 and was buried here.

Cathedral contains relics which draw many, many pilgrims. Considered the holiest site in Russia. While lighting is bad, it is still possible to see multitudes of icons. Beautiful place and very spiritual. Today three women stood in corner and sang - beautiful!

I visited the Trinity Cathedral inside the monastery after reviewing the history of the area with my guide. Built in 1422-23 over the grave of St. Sergius, this is widely considered to be the most important structure in the monastery. Even at this point in my travels I had come down a bit with some "church fatigue" as they all seemed to start having more similarities than differences. What made this experience different was the active mass going on as we entered the cathedral; it was easily one of the most memorable moments of my ten days in Russia. Whereas the churches in the Kremlin seemed to function as religious museums, the Trinity Cathedral came to life as I watched about fifteen minutes of a Russian Orthodox service and lit candles before departing. For the first time I really got the sense of the importance of churches such as this in centuries past. Highly recommended.

Бесконечные тысячи людей стремятся попасть в Троицкий собор, к мощам преподобного Сергия. Думается, что глядя на белоснежный собор, людям видится иной, горний мир.Многим из нас дорого и то, что стенопись собора производит впечатление древнего интерьера собора. Трогает душу иконостас. Создан он был в ХV веке. Иконы для него писались Самими Андреем Рублёвым и Даниилом Чёрным и, под их руководством, другими монахами. Смотришь хоть и на копию с "Троицы" Рублёва, и глаз отвести не можешь...

Очень красивый иконостас. Его расписывали Андрей Рублев и Даниил Черный. Сам собор белокаменный, очень красивый. Понравилось все. А главное то состояние души, пребываешь, находясь здесь.

Красивый собор с золотыми куполами, построен из белого камня в традиционном русском стиле. Над иконостасом собора работал знаменитый иконописец Андрей Рублев. Справа от иконостаса находится рака с мощами Сергия Радонежского. Мы посещали Лавру в среду, в первой половине дня, очередь в Троицкий собор к мощам была очень небольшая, стояли 15-20 минут.

Собор привлекает не только своей красотой, но и тем, что там находится одна из главных православных святынь- мощи Сергия Радонежского. Много чудес происходит после посещения Собора. Я это почувствовала на себе. После длительной дороги и очень большой очереди в Собор я думала, что на следующий день вообще не смогу ходить. Но утром следующего дня- это просто чудо- я встала совершенно здоровая с желанием опять посетить Лавру. Я так и сделала. И Вам желаю обязательно там побывать!

Посетили Собор в тот момент, когда шла вечерняя служба. Очередь к мощам преподобного Сергия была небольшой - стояли порядка получаса. Приезжали в четверг в начале пятого вечера. Народу в храме немного, множно спокойно помолиться.

Прекрасный гармоничный Собор, где покоятся святые мощи Преподобного отца нашего Сергия игумена Радонежского чудотворца. Паломникам прежде чем делать другие дела в Сергиевом Посаде нужно взять благословения Игумена всея Руси, тогда все сложится хорошо. Акафисты Преподобному начинаются каждые два часа, Литургия в 6-30, очень благодатное место.

Мы стояли в очереди около часа с ребенком на руках. народу очень много в выходные, советую ехать в буни
