This park is really something. The red rock formations are very impressing. It is said to be similar to Bryce Canyon in the US. It was worth the long trip from Mendoza. The guide didn´t speak english at all, but at the five stations there was signs in English.

talampaya park is an well organised park. You need a car to visit this place. I know you can do a trip from San Juan but it is to far away. We stayed in Villa Union, rented a car and in one hour you are there. Guided tours in different "4weel trucks. The tour is 3 hours incl a stop with drinks and snacks. The language is spanish but we visited 4 spots and the important ones have plates with english explanation. Clean toilets near the entrances.

A must-visit place! Talampaya makes you feel as small as you are in the Universe, it's a visit worth paying and everyone can do it! Don't stop visiting this amazing natural wonder!

Talamlaya is a nice place to visit. Perhaps the photos we are used to seeing made my expectations a little bit too high for what it is. As a whole it is worth visiting but the visit turns out to be rather expensive. Arco Iris, an excursion organized further into the park, is interesting as well, especially because we were very few people and this is a gift in such visited area. Mind the season to visit this national park: going in high season can be frustrating as we expect to enjoy nature in a quiet atmosphere, which is absolutely impossible in high seasons. It is a real pity that we were not given the possibility of trekking further away from the big groups.

It is an incredible place to visit and the guide explanation was brilliant ( in Spanish ) it is quite different to other places around. The colours and the shape of the mountains are really amazing,It is well kept and there is a well organized restaurant and souvernirs shops, It is really worth visiting it. The weather in winter is very cold in the morning but warmer after midday. It is worth to book the tickets in advance , specially if you visit it in July .

We took a regular bus tour. We intended to take the morning tour, but because of the rain the park was closed (You can combine Ischigualasto and Talampaya in one day if you want). It was a good tour, but nothing special. I didn't feel the tour guide was exceptionally good. Maybe the tour fee is a bit expensive for what we were given. The things to see at the park fun and somewhat educational. You come here to see the nature and it is wonderful. The park is quite remote from everything and the drive up there is amazing!!

Natural beauty. Incredible landscape. Not to be missed by any visitor who visits this area. Parque Provincial Ischigualasto is near and also recommended.

If driving from San Juan, the road north via Jachal and Villa Union is much faster and more scenic than following Route 141 and 510. This park, and a partner Ischgualasto Park (90 km away) are both about 4-5 hours from everywhere (San Juan, Cordoba, Mendoza). Some tour companies squeeze both into 1 day, and if that is all the time you have, then so be it. Both parks are accessible only when accompanied by a Ranger. In Ischigualasto you drive your own vehicle in convoy following the Ranger, while in Talampaya you can go on an escorted walk or bus tour. Talampaya can be easily described as a 2km long canyon, 200-250m wide, bounded by sheer blazing orange cliffs up to 150m high - almost mind blowing. As you first enter the canyon there is a collection of petroglyphs apparently over 1000 years old. Standing in this canyon makes one feel terrible small and insignificant.

You would come here to walk. We did a 3 hour walk in the morning, then took the tour to visit the petroglyphs in the afternoon. It was a worthwhile day. The restaurant at the visitors center has the best coffee I've had in Argentina!

We went as a family group. The youngest was 15 years old. We opted to take the big tour truck (the the bus or walking) and we are so glad we did. The guide was great. We had rooftop seating. They even arranged a wine and snack stop. It was very elegant in the rustic canyon. Wild guanacos ran right by us! We went in the early fall. It was a slow time for them and we found the timing was perfect.

We took the big bus with rooftop seating. What a hoot! Midway through they served us wine and snacks. Wildlife and INSANE geology here.

Thanks to a great (private) guide, Fabian (runacay in villa union), we had a great day. Morning in talampaya, with a 2:30 hours walk inside the beautiful park. Lots of comments very interesting from Fabian. We learnt a lot and had fun. Beautiful views...Afternoon in ischigulasto/vallée de la luna. Here the cars follow a guide from the park. Very interesting too.
